5 hair loss myths plus a science-backed solution

23rd June 2022 by Zawani Abdul Ghani 2 Min Read

https://expatliving.sg/nourkrin-hair-solution-treatment-for-hair-loss/

There are lots of myths surrounding hair loss and hair growth; Glynise Peh, Chief Operating Officer of Neoasia, runs us through some of these and shares details of one possible hair solution for hair restoration.

Myth #1: Trimming your hair is a hair solution to quicken hair growth.

Regular trims actually work to improve the look and feel of hair. By trimming unhealthy split ends, your hair will have less breakage and flyaway, making it look thicker and shinier. This is probably why some people think their hair appears to grow faster because it breaks less and therefore grows longer in a shorter amount of time.

What you can consider doing, however, is to get started on a scientifically proven hair management treatment such as Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy (PRT). An example of PRT is Hair Growth+ inCLINIC by Nourkrin, which is rich in specific proteoglycans; the product works to induce hair follicles back into the anagen phase to begin a new hair growth cycle, prompting what appears to be faster and denser hair growth.

Myth #2: Wearing a hat causes baldness or affects hair growth.

Hats generally don’t cause baldness as most people are unlikely to wear their hat so tightly that it creates enough tension to cause hair to pull on hair follicles and fall out. There are, however, rare cases where a hat can cause an allergic reaction in the scalp, leading to hair loss due to inflammation.

Myth #3: Hair loss comes from your mother’s side.

It’s completely untrue that one parent or another has a major influence on your hair loss! The genealogy of your hair comes half from your mother and half from your father. In fact, anyone can suffer from hair loss at any point in their lives, even if it doesn’t run in the family; 60 percent of women and 80 percent of men will experience it at some stage.

Myth #4: Effective hair solutions contain drugs and carry side effects.

Not all of them! For example, the aforementioned Hair Growth+ inCLINIC is a drug-free product with no known side effects, which can still be as effective at tackling the hair growth cycle, a common denominator across all types of hair loss.

Myth #5: COVID-19 can cause hair loss.

There is some truth to this myth, but it’s more accurate to say that hair loss is due to the detrimental effect of inflammation and low blood oxygen. COVID-19 has been shown to increase incidences of dermatological disorders, including diffused hair loss; research shows an escalated incidence of pattern hair loss in up to 30 percent of patients with COVID. The recovery process for this can take months, and it can be distressing. Some may also be cautious about taking hair drugs due because of concerns about potential drug interactions. Hair Growth+ inCLINIC has been found to be well tolerated, with no known interactions with other drugs; it’s why many medical professionals use the product as an effective hair solution in COVID-19 patients.

In fact, a recent clinical paper revealed that Proteoglycan Replacement Therapy (PRT) is becoming a preferred global treatment for COVID-related hair loss. The paper outlined details of a breakthrough using Nourkrin, with its proprietary ingredient Marilex, to normalise the hair growth cycle. By prolonging the anagen phase of the cycle, it helps maintain normal, healthy hair growth.

Don’t miss! Neoasia is giving away one box of Nourkrin to three lucky Expat Living readers each. Visit Expat Living’s Instagram page to find out how to stand a chance to win.
