Grooming Tips For 2025
Gents, looking to up your hair game? We check in with Jermyn Street’s Head Barber and General Manager ADONIS for a few styling tips!
#1 Style with the grain, not against it
“When styling, always work with your hair’s natural crown direction. Start applying your product from the back and move forward. This helps you avoid over-applying at the front and ensures a more balanced look.”
#2 Apply product to the roots
“Apply product directly to your roots and work it thoroughly through. Focus on the back of your head first, and then work the product down to the front, ensuring it’s evenly distributed, then style. This prevents your hair from getting weighed down at the front.”
#3 Don’t over-wash your hair!
“Wash your hair every day? Not a good idea! Over-washing strips your scalp of its natural oils. Aim for two to three washes a week. Follow up with a good conditioner to keep your hair healthy and hydrated.”
#4 Dry hair first before styling
“Always make sure your hair is completely dry before applying any product. Wet hair won’t hold the product as well, and you risk it looking greasy or weighed down. Dry hair absorbs product better and gives you a more defined style.”
#5 Regular cuts
“To keep your style sharp, regular maintenance is key. For shorter cuts like fades, we recommend visiting the barber every two to three weeks to maintain that fresh, clean look. If you’re rocking a longer style, aim for a trim every four to five weeks to preserve the shape and prevent excess growth on the sides.”
What are some trending hair styles for 2025?
• “We’re noticing an increase in textured crops, particularly among our Asian clientele, as it beautifully complements the natural direction of the hair at the crown. With the right cutting techniques, we can add more texture, especially for straight hair.”
• “Fades remain a top choice in Singapore, thanks to the hot climate. We’re seeing more clients opting for longer hair on top paired with a classic zero fade, tailored to the natural shape of their head.”
• “Long trims are also on the rise, and we’re adding a contemporary touch by incorporating a taper at the back and along the sideburns. This not only lightens the weight around the neck, making it more comfortable for warmer climates, but also sharpens the overall look.”
