A Whodunnit Staycation…

21st May 2021 by Rebecca Bisset 3 Min Read

https://expatliving.sg/mystery-staycation-at-raffles-hotel/

Until the end of June, go for a staycation or daycation at Raffles Hotel and you can take part in a mystery! “Treasures of Raffles” includes a whodunnit tale and interactive play set against the backdrop of the iconic hotel. You can play during your stay, or watch a virtual interactive theatrical experience that’s playable on-demand from anywhere. You’ll feel like you’re in Raffles and it will get the little grey cells working!

EL’s Rebecca and Michaela recently got the chance to stay for a night and try to unravel the mystery. It was their first time staying at Raffles Hotel in 23 years, and they both came away raving about the beautiful rooms (“especially the bathroom!”).

Here is Michaela’s review of the “Treasures of Raffles” staycation, which is on until the end of June.

Solving a mystery at Raffles

I think Raffles Hotel is one of the most beautiful buildings in Singapore externally and I wasn’t disappointed by the interiors! It really felt glamorous inside and it was the perfect setting for our treasure hunt.

We started our hunt in our suite (pictured below) by watching the accompanying interactive virtual play, The Curious Case of the Missing Peranakan Treasure; it stars Hossan Leong and is very cleverly done. After you watch the play, you can open your clue cards that are given to you by your very own Raffles butler – posh!

My mum and I have always loved mystery shows like Poirot, so this was especially fun for us to do together. It’s a nice way to spend quality time and use your brain. I have to admit, some of the clues were harder than I expected, but it was still great fun.

Part of the hunt was being treated to a Singapore Sling and some snacks. I’d just like to say that if you haven’t experienced this special cocktail here at Raffles where it was invented, you’re missing out. This version is way better than any copycat version – and I can’t wait to have another! But be warned, they were a lot stronger than I thought; it made solving the last part of the treasure hunt a little more challenging…

I won’t give away any of the clues, but the hunt takes you to a few places in the hotel and the connected shops, and it’s a great way to explore the space.
