Latest furniture looks to change up your home

18th September 2018 by Amy Brook-Partridge 1 Min Read

“Variety is the spice of life!” says Naazli Somjee, director of furniture retail store WTP. She’s referring to the store’s recent introduction of a new collection of home furniture, including sofas, dining tables and beds. “Having new collections that integrate into our current range gives shoppers the opportunity to try different looks, without having to travel to umpteen different stores.”

Furniture sofa
L-shaped sofas are a great way to make use of tricky living room spaces

The new furniture has been designed both by WTP’s in-house team and as part of a collaboration with other designers around the region, with the aim of producing unique pieces across the store. “All the items are brand new, and can either be purchased outright or put on a long-term lease, with a minimum duration of 12 months,” says Naazli.

Colour Trends

Monochrome is ‘in’, but the trend includes different shades of grey rather than just classic black and white

Customers are becoming more confident in adding colour to a room using larger pieces of furniture, such as this sofa

Specific colour trends to note for this season include oranges and jewel tones. Naazli says, “As always, monochrome is in, but this time it’s not just black and white, but different shades of grey.” She adds that WTP’s customers are proving more adventurous with colours too – “and not just with cushions, but with integrating more colourful main pieces of furniture into their spaces.”

Furniture Style

The raw grain of the wood in the console and coffee table becomes a feature rather than something to hide

The plushness of this kidney-shaped sofa adds a little luxe to the living room

For those customers looking for cool and unique pieces of furniture in Singapore, it’s worth noting that WTP’s new collection uses different materials, including velvet and plush. “This adds a touch of luxury to any space, and it looks great when you mix it up in a space with linen or leather,” says Naazli. Raw and sustainable woods continue to prove increasingly popular, including woods with defects – pieces that are now recycled rather than thrown away.

Amy has two kids, one dog and one husband - although she'd love to have more than one (dog, that is). She's mad about F45 training, running and playing Gaelic football, when she isn't injured or drinking a little too much wine.
