Looking for a good facial in Holland Village?

25th November 2021 by Rebecca Bisset 3 Min Read

https://expatliving.sg/good-facial-in-holland-village-face-bar/

Communications Manager Karin Galley was looking for a good facial in Holland Village, so we sent her off to Face.Bar. It has a wide range of facials and partners with various renowned skin-care brands including Guinot. Launched back in 2010 in a charming shophouse on Purvis Street, it aims to bring you a focused approach to treating your skin. Every treatment focusses on a great experience that visibly enhances your skin.

Read on for Karin’s review.

Why did you book a facial? What were the key reasons you felt you needed one?

I’m diligent about my skincare routine at home, but I find nothing quite beats the skincare benefits of a professional facial. Age, hormones and sun damage have caused my skin to become super dry. I’ve always found that a good facial helps to revamp my skin by moisturising it to the max.

Did you have anything specific in mind?

I love facials that are customised and use great products. I’m particularly drawn to scents and a good facial massage. We all have so much tension these days and a bit of pampering can be a game-changer in making you feel really relaxed. Extraction is also important for me. I’ve tried to remove blackheads and whiteheads myself in the past, only to end up with inflamed skin and some hyperpigmentation that would take months to clear.

What are some aspects of the Face.Bar facial you loved?

I opted for Guinot’s most sought-after treatment, the Hydradermie Facial. It started with double cleansing and exfoliation prior to extraction, which was pleasantly gentle.  After the application of different gel-based serums (I loved that these were tailored for my skin), the next step involved metal roller balls and an ionising current to stimulate the muscles in the skin, toning it and helping the products get into the deeper layers of your skin.

It was a cooling and very relaxing experience to have these roll over my face for 10 minutes or so. Whenever the beautician moved the roller towards my mouth, though, I experienced a distinct metallic taste, which was a bit of a weird sensation – it was the one part of the treatment I wasn’t that keen on. Next, a delicately scented moisture essence (again tailored for my skin) was applied and massaged in for about 15 minutes. The invigorating facial massage with gentle even strokes was brilliant and felt deeply nourishing. This was followed by a customised thick hydrating mask.

How did your face look and feel afterwards?

The verdict? My skin felt super hydrated, soft and plumped up. In the days following, it looked much fresher and more radiant.

What other good facials and services can you get at Face.Bar?

There’s a wide range of facials you can choose from. Other than Guinot, they also partner with Bellewave, a renowned Swiss skincare brand that uses safe and effective botanical ingredients to deliver lasting results; Anesi, a Spanish skin care formulated with technological and biomimetic active ingredients; and Buriel, a Korean brand that has cell-replenishing micromolecular hyaluronic acid is one of the main components.
