Sara Baras, world renowned flamenco artist, celebrates the 25th anniversary of her dance company with this tribute to Spanish guitarist Paco de Lucia (1947 to 2014). Known for pushing the boundaries and opening the doors of flamenco music to the world, Paco’s innovative compositions and ability to blend traditional flamenco with other musical genres helped popularise flamenco, empowering its relevance and vibrancy for future generations.
Vuela features Sara Baras and an ensemble of 12 musicians and dancers, exploring 15 choreographic pieces across four acts: Wood, Sea, Death and Fly. With each act themed around a specific word, audiences get to see a dynamic expression of flamenco. Vuelahas toured the world to critical acclaim and now arrives in Singapore, marking the celebrated artist’s return to Esplanade since 2016.
This production is part of da:ns focus – Salero Flamenco, a weekend which embraces the passion, soul and fervour of flamenco dance performed by some of the best musicians and dancers worldwide, while also engaging with flamenco practitioners and aficionados in Singapore.
