Ready your senses for an eclectic public art, fashion and lifestyle showcase at the Design Orchard building, happening from 17 February to 10 April 2022. The Non Season exhibition highlights 20 Singapore-based artists and designers, with the unmissable event conceptualised and presented by creative collective Hyphen BB, led by May Leong, Becca D’Bus and Bobby Luo.
What to expect
Through art exhibits, workshops, panel discussions, live performances and heritage tours, visitors will have the opportunity to reimagine structures and challenge existing frameworks that define our everyday lives. Contemporary artists and designers will come together and transform the Design Orchard building’s pedestrian level pillars, staircase and rooftop with visually impactful and kaleidoscopic installations.
You’ll also see the interiors and the exterior of the Design Orchard come alive with mixed media works by Mike Chang, Divaagar, Aki Hassan, Marla Bendini, Urich Lau and Masuri Mazlan. Plus, there’ll be exclusive fashion and lifestyle capsule collections designed in collaboration with Singapore-based artists and designers. For example, grab a front-row seat to check out home-grown fashion designer Sabrina Goh’s collaboration with local artist Ashley Yeo. It features The Whale and Irises Collection, a unique 10-piece apparel and accessories range inspired by an original drawing by Ashley.
There’s also the intricate collaboration between ANS.EIN and Deborah Chan, turning the latter’s beautiful painting ‘Transition’ into wearable art by combining it with lurik fabric – a traditional fabric made using hand-woven techniques.
Other brands’ work to look out for include The 1925 Brewing Co, Cocoonese, Singapore Memories and Wet Tee Designs. You’ll have the opportunity to pick yourself something unique with their varied product offering, which includes collections ranging from fashion apparel and accessories to lifestyle products that’ll be available for sale exclusively at the event.
What else?
Beyond fashion, there’ll also be a range of in-store activations and programmes. These will include live performances by homegrown band Tiramisu, DJ sets by KiDG and Ginette Chittick, pop-up voguing, and tours by heritage blogger Jerome Lim.
As an extra treat, visitors are invited to browse and style local fashion pieces on themselves while renowned Singaporean poet and visual artist Marylyn Tan records these encounters in impressionist paintings.
