9th November 2019 by Melinda Murphy 4 Min Read

Looking for the perfect spot to celebrate with your friends? Dempsey Hill has heaps of fab restaurants with a mix of cuisines for dinners, and anything from a casual lunch to a brewery party with your mates is on offer!

1. A foodie haven at Morsels

Foodies will love the mouth-watering flavours at award-winning restaurant Morsels. Chef Petrina, voted as one of the top five female chefs in Singapore by The Straits Times, presents fusion dishes that are a feast for the eyes, and a true gastronomic adventure. Opt for the omakase menu of multiple small plates and taste the best of the resto’s signature dishes, such as perfectly grilled Kurobuta pork collar, flavourful Mottainai lamb riblets and the signature Firecracker Duroc Pulled Pork.

2. Besties catch-up at Jones the Grocer

Looking for a perfect place to catch up with your besties? Jones the Grocer has launched a new menu packed with big flavours, with items such as green chilli cheese toast, spicy seafood aglio olio, buttermilk chicken burgers, grilled sweet potato and smashed avocado. Choose a nice bottle of wine to go with the amazing cheese platter, which features French artisan cheese Cabriolet, Italian Formajo Ciok, Brie de Coloulomniers, and Truffle Gouda from the Netherlands, along with salami, honey-glazed ham, duck rillette and chorizo Ibérico. Top it off with an amazing dessert, such as the flourless orange almond cake, lemon drizzle cake, gluten-free chocolate cake, pecan pie or semolina rose cake.

3. Fun night out at Tawandang Microbrewery

You’ll be transported to Thailand when you dine at this famous microbrewery, which opened its first outlet outside of Bangkok right here at Dempsey Hill. Tawandang is synonymous with authentic Thai cuisine, creative flavours and Thai hospitality. Savour your meal while watching the energetic, live performances, which start at 7.30 every night. There’s an incredible mix of all-time Thai favourites and home-style dishes here, such as tom yum kung with prawns, steamed seabass with chilli and lime sauce, chicken green curry and the signature deep-fried pork knuckle. Try freshly-brewed Dunkel, Weizen and Lager beer, each created with ingredients imported directly from Germany. Happy Hour is 1pm to 6pm daily, when you can enjoy one-for-one on a half-litre of beer.

4. Best of Mediterranean cuisine

Indulge in the best of Mediterranean cuisine at popular Greek restaurant Blu Kouzina. There with a crowd? Be sure to start with the pita bread served with Blu’s addictive dips. Next, try a refreshing Greek salad, before moving on to a grilled seafood platter, consisting of fresh grilled fish, jumbo prawns and calamari. This charming restaurant is run by Greek owners who import olive oil and other ingredients directly from Greece for a true taste of the Med. Got kids in tow? Great! Bring them on the weekends and let them enjoy Blu Kouzina’s bouncy castle and outdoor area while you chill with a glass of wine.

5. Eat, drink and be merry

JAM at Siri House is a restaurant that elevates the dining and drinking experience. Featuring bold, diverse flavours that traverse geographical boundaries, the menu of sharing plates offers hearty, familiar dishes delivered with signature twists. JAM unites Chef Ming Tan (Lolla, Park Bench Deli), Chef Jeremy Cheok (formerly of Garang Grill), Mark Tay, and Yap Hwee Jan from Sunday Punch. All have worked together to create the restaurant’s stellar food and bar programme. The most popular dish? Fresh handmade pappardelle with seafood sauce, mussels and charcoal-grilled tiger prawns. There’s also an outstanding selection of craft cocktails from the bar.
