Scratching your head for date ideas in Singapore for Valentine’s Day or anniversaries? From stunning views to bespoke cocktails, here are some of the EL team’s personal picks of romantic bars in Singapore for your date night!
Southbridge
Instead of going to one of the usual riverside bars at Clarke Quay, get away from the noise and crowds at Southbridge. To be honest, I was a little hesitant to share this intimate candlelit rooftop bar because it’s one of my go-to date night locations in Singapore! Southbridge offers a 360-degree view of the city skyline, and a great selection of signature cocktails and wine from around the world. You should also try the Japanese-style bar snacks, wagyu sliders and, for seafood lovers, a selection of oysters – perfect for a Valentine’s date.

The Spiffy Dapper
Coffeehouse by day, speakeasy by night, this place was intentionally made to be easy to miss. It’s located on the second floor of a shophouse and the sign at the bottom of the stairs only says “Dapper Coffee”. Coupling this with the bar’s efforts to maintain its self-dubbed reputation of “the worst bar in Singapore”, it’s no surprise if you’ve never heard of the place or chosen to give it a miss – yet it’s great for those seeking out-of-the-box date ideas for Valentine’s Day. Walk through the engraved doors at the stairwell’s first landing, though, and you’ll be welcomed with décor and vibes that scream “old school” – in fact, some of the music is from the 1920s. Choose from the selection of cocktails and spirits, or leave it to the bartenders to create a bespoke drink for your date to really impress them!

1-Altitude Coast
If you’re planning a date at Sentosa, head to 1-Altitude Coast. The adults-only rooftop bar offers a lovely view of the sunset. The vibe is laid-back and casual, allowing you and your partner to enjoy a relaxed and unhurried time. There’s a rooftop pool, too, so you can always take a dip as one of your date activities!

Mr Stork
Booking one of the tepees at Mr Stork doesn’t come cheap, but it’s worth the experience – especially as the special tents create a semi-private enclave for you to cosy up together with your date. Mr Stork is located on the rooftop of Andaz Singapore, so it also offers a lovely view of the city – you can snap some couple selfies set against a stunning backdrop. If tepees aren’t your thing, you can still enjoy the view and drinks by booking a seated or standing table.

Barood
If you’re looking for an intimate date over drinks then Barood is for you. The cosy lighting and tantric beats, along with the crimson bar wall and décor, do the trick of setting the mood! There’s a wide array of wines, sake and liquors, which go well with the spiced tapas dishes on the menu. The hot chicken balls, mini duck rice cakes and otoro tostadas are all a must-try.

Lantern
Lantern in The Fullerton Bay Hotel is one of my favourite places. The bar not dark and intimate, but the setting – along with the view of the sun setting over the water amidst Singapore’s city skyline – is romantic to me. The Singapore Slings are among the best in town and the mini sliders are the perfect size to accompany them; you don’t want a big meal that will make you sleepy on your date!
