Where to buy a turkey

23rd November 2020 by Anthia Chng 3 Min Read

https://expatliving.sg/christmas-dinner-in-singapore-ready-cooked-turkey-take-away/

Hosting Thanksgiving or Christmas at your house and wondering where to buy a turkey in Singapore? You might prefer to get one ready-cooked, or thawed, brined and stuffed for easy cooking. You can actually personalise and pre-order your entire Christmas dinner menu online – everything from turkeys to homemade sausages, roast beef, sides, and more. Here are some of our top spots for takeaway turkeys and butchers with festive fare.

Ready cooked turkeys

Ryan’s Grocery

Ryan’s Grocery’s organic turkeys ($189) are roasted, then chilled. Imported from the USA, the turkeys are free of GMO, gluten, MSG, antibiotics and hormones, and are fed a 100 percent vegetarian diet enhanced with vitamins. You’ll need to reheat the turkey; instructions come with your order. Other options on the festive menu include Beef Wellington ($220), a robust tenderloin encased in flaky pastry.

Placed your order at least seven days in advance, then just collect it between 9am to 6pm on your chosen date. For collection on 24 to 27 December, and 31 December 2020 to 3 January 2021, collection is between 9am to 2pm. Preorder before 4 December to enjoy 10 percent off!

Little Farms

The Little Farms Café chefs are serving a selection of ready-to-eat items like maple walnut glazed butterball whole-roasted turkey ($188) with roulade of mushroom and chestnut stuffing. Another must-try is the house-rubbed whole roasted Australian Mirrool Creek bone-in lamb leg ($158), with rosemary and garlic, tomato and mint relish, and cabernet sauvignon jus.

All ready-to-eat items can be purchased online at the Little Farm’s Christmas page until 7 December, with delivery and pickup available from 22 to 26 December.

Shahi Maharani

Opt for something special this year. The tandoori turkey ($150) from North Indian restaurant Shahi Maharani is a must-order; it’s marinated overnight and prepared with aromatic spices like fenugreek, cinnamon, fennel seeds, coriander, rose water and mint leaves, and roasted to perfection in the tandoor (hot clay oven).

The festive offerings are available until 1 January 2021. Pre-order three days before the date of collection or delivery.

Frozen or thawed turkeys

Meat Co

Online butchery Meat Co offers a traditional whole roasted turkey (from $58) from USA, which can be defrosted, brined and stuffed for fuss-free cooking. If you choose that option, the team will truss the turkey to ensure an even roast. For more flavour, apply the packet of marinade before popping the bird into the oven. Other meaty picks include wagyu, lamb leg, sausages and bone-in ham.

Order at least four days in advance; 20 December is the last date to order Christmas items.

Huber’s Butchery

Huber’s Butchery offers a great selection of raw, defrosted and stuffed turkeys of different weights, depending on your party size. Feeding a smaller crowd? Go for the boneless turkey breast instead. The turkeys are imported frozen from USA, and then brined to ensure juicier results. Get your turkey stuffed at the butcher counter, and all you need to do is to roast it in the oven.

Huber’s Butchery also does great sausages

Pair your meat with the butchery’s selection of truffle products, caviar and sauces including turkey gravy and apple sauce. Don’t miss out on the homemade stuffing either; flavours include chestnut, sage and a delicious-sounding apple, cranberry and pecan combination. Huber’s Christmas pre-orders end on 15 December.

The rain and cold winds getting you down? A warm beverage and maybe a good book to snuggle up to might just chase the blues away!

If hot chocolate is too mainstream for you, could we offer up this red velvet alternative? @littlefarms have a wide selection of oat milks, almond milks and soy milk options.

Since it's #Veganuary, we recommend using dairy free milks to recreate this recipe....

2 cups non-dairy milk of choice
4 medjool dates (pitted)
1 tablespoon cacao powder
1/2 teaspoon beet powder

Add the milk and dates into a saucepan.
Heat, over medium, until it reaches a simmer. Add the warm milk with the dates and the remaining ingredients into a high speed blender.
Blend until completely smooth and creamy. Serve and enjoy!

As we welcome the start of a new year, it’s time to look back at the year that was.

Obviously, a standard review of 2020 would be dominated by one global issue, however, we’ve decided to avoid any mention of the C-word and instead, we’re taking a look at some of the other things that happened in 2020
month by month, from pop culture phenomena to mystery objects in our deserts and skies (full link in our stories)
