For the month of December, we have joined OCBC Wisma Atria to celebrate their one-year anniversary. With that, we’re offering a 50% discount for OCBC cardmembers on selected titles to make their Xmas shopping a little more cost effective.
Non-customers of the bank are always welcome too and should come check out our store in OCBC Wisma Atria.
When did BookXcess open, and can anyone shop at these bookstores in Singapore?
We started in 2006 with a humble BookXcess store located in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia in an Amcorp mall. Then we started to expand, and we now have 19 stores across Malaysia.
In collaboration with OCBC, we started opening shops in Singapore in 2022. Inside, you can find affordable prices on our books with added discounts for OCBC cardmembers.
Why have you combined a bookstore with a bank?
It’s an interesting concept! We thought that since people do go to banks and sometimes have to wait, why not have books ready for them to browse?
In Malaysia, we’ve converted a bank and its vault into a bookstore, and some of our outlets also have full food and beverage outlets!
All our stores have hand-picked books that will definitely attract the bank customers – and we’re always on the lookout for interesting collaborations with other brands when we put up our stores.
What genres and types of books do you stock?
We have affordable books for everyone from children’s novels and activity books, fiction and non-fiction and biographies to coffee table books, hobbyist books and even board games and other gift ideas. Our stores are known to have a very wide range of books and there is definitely something for everyone – we don’t just focus on avid readers.
Is there anything we can look forward to next year?
We will be looking into having more promotions in Singapore because we know how much people here like to read! We will also be updating our bookstores constantly with new titles for everyone.
