The Belle Clinic – a pigmentation facial for glowing skin
Aesthetic Clinic Review: Glycolic Hydration Facial
After spending a few glorious weeks soaking up the wonderful but notorious Aussie sun, my skin was screaming for some serious TLC. Despite slathering on SPF like my life depended on it, I started noticing a few extra sun spots on my cheeks. Some had been there forever, but a few new ones had popped up uninvited!
When I came back to Singapore, Dr Maybelle Tan – a literal skin-saving angel – appeared on my radar at just the right time. She’s the mastermind behind The Belle Clinic, a specialist in aesthetics and anti-ageing medical procedures. With over 20 years of experience, she’s not about that “one-size-fits-all” life. Instead, every single treatment in her aesthetic clinic in Singapore is tailored specifically to you. She personally analyses every patient’s skin, explains everything in detail, and patiently answers all your skin-related questions – she was very patient with my questions.
How this clinical facial works
After cleaning and assessing my face and skin, she gave me some good news: it wasn’t that bad. But to tackle those pesky sun spots and bring my glow back, she recommended a Glycolic Hydration Facial. In simple terms, this involves a medical-grade chemical peel done only by doctors, that removes dead skin cells, leaving you looking fresh, hydrated and basically red-carpet ready. The chemical peels used are all customised to suit different skin types, and Dr Maybelle has ones specifically for extremely sensitive skin, acne or melasma.
Because my skin leans towards the sensitive side, she made sure not to go overboard with the glycolic acid. I was given a rundown beforehand – expect a tingling sensation, which, to my relief, was totally manageable. Then came the extraction and a heavenly hydration massage that made me forget all my life’s worries for a moment.
The verdict
Fast forward a couple of days, and my skin is brighter, fresher, smoother… and my pores? Smaller than ever (hallelujah!). Dr Maybelle also let me in on a little secret – this treatment keeps working on your skin even after you leave the clinic. That’s why so many people book it a week before a big event for that extra boost of glow. So, if your skin needs a little love and you want to leave looking like a million bucks, I highly recommend paying Dr Maybelle a visit. Tell her Susan says hello!

Dr Plus Aesthetic Clinic in Singapore – a clinical facial for sun spots & more
Aesthetic Clinic Review: Fillmed Skin Perfusion Medi-Facial
My carefree days basking in the sun are finally catching up with me! My therapist Lynnie quickly noticed the sun spots across my cheeks and nose during our consultation. She recommended one of Dr Plus’ potent, non-invasive clinical facials, the Fillmed Skin Perfusion Facial, for my dry, sun-tired skin.
Dr Plus is the first (and one of the only) aesthetic clinics in Singapore authorised by French laboratory Fillmed to offer its high-performance cosmeceutical line. I was happy to see that Lynnie knew it inside out. She tailored every step of the two-hour facial to target my pigmentation, starting with a double cleanse, then a chemical peel using the Bright Peel for Dark Spots, and exfoliation. The Skin Perfusion Hydra Cryo-Serum came next. Packed with vitamin B5, hyaluronic acid and collagen, it was worked deep into my skin using a radiofrequency device.
Massages are often afterthoughts in aesthetic clinics, but not here! My neck, arm and face were then given the most amazing massage. There was just enough force to loosen tense muscles, de-puff and boost circulation. Then the three-step finale: more serum, the super-creamy GR-Youth Mask (coined “ice cream mask” on social media) and a sheet mask to seal it all in.
My glowing skin felt totally rejuvenated, plump and nourished right after this pigmentation facial. This lasted for days. The best part? With just one session, my sun spots already looked noticeably lighter. In addition, my complexion was also brighter, and this would continue to improve with regular treatments.
The science
Using protocols designed by Dr Plus’ medical director Dr Kenneth Lee, the clinical facial harnesses Fillmed’s specialised medical-grade formulations to hydrate, reduce wrinkles, facilitate cell renewal and address age- and sun-related pigmentation issues. Using the mix-and-match approach, it focuses on the concept of skin perfusion, ensuring optimal nutrient distribution (including hyaluronic acid, peptides, vitamins, retinol, antioxidants, soothing oils and moisturising agents) for nourished and glowing skin.

Cutis Medical Laser Clinics – a facial to clean, lift and tighten
Aesthetic Clinic Review: Imperium Deep Cleanse & Lift with Sonoblade 25 & RF Spheres
Knowing I’d be lying down in the Cutis laser and aesthetic clinic for 90 minutes, I was delighted to have bubbly Belinda as my therapist.
Today, she was driving the highly technical Imperium Med 400 machine, used in the medical aesthetic field to treat various imperfections. Different handpieces and technologies deliver cleaning, repairing and nourishment to the skin, in addition to non-invasive lifting effects.
Cleansing is the first step in any facial. At this aesthetic clinic in Singapore, therapist Belinda used Imperium’s Sonoblade 25 handpiece. (See “The science”, below.)
Then, after applying cold gel, she got going with the RF Spheres handpiece. This uses bipolar radiofrequency to lift and tighten skin by generating endogenous heat. It is followed by deep muscle contraction and biostimulation to literally give the facial muscles a workout. It can also soften fine lines and wrinkles, tighten the jawline (yes, please!), lift the brow, enhance cheekbones and minimise nasolabial folds.
Immediately afterwards, even I could see my glowing skin as I left, the skin was tauter, tighter and visibly lifted. Best of all, the collagen stimulating effects of RF truly kick in two to four months after treatment. In anticipation, I’ve decided to start counting my birthdays backwards.
The science
Imperium uses diathermy – a high-frequency electric current that generates heat to stimulate collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid production. Its Sonoblade uses the elastic wave (low-frequency ultrasound 25kHz) to transmit a series of vibrations that deliver not only deep cleaning but also epidermabrasion. It also hydrates, stimulates skin cell turnover and gets rid of superficial dark spots.
From $150, depending on the areas treated.
