Antique and reproduction furniture finds

13th September 2018 by Amy Brook-Partridge 2 Min Read

A stalwart of the industry with over 40 years in business, Just Anthony is a go-to spot for antique and reproduction furniture in Singapore. What was first started by Anthony Lee in an attap house in Paya Lebar, is now managed by his daughter Danielle, who you’ll spot more often than not in the company’s now sprawling showroom/

Since she joined the business over 20 years ago, Danielle has seen the company grow from trading Chinese antiques to producing key reproduction pieces such as bedside tables, bookshelves, consoles and coffee tables. The demand for these pieces has grown and grown, and Just Anthony continues to add products to its portfolio.

“Repurposing is a great way to make use of a piece and not let it go to waste,” says Danielle. “Beautiful carvings made into a coffee table were one of the initially popular pieces, and now we have a wide variety, from daybeds turned into coffee tables, to shutters that act as room dividers.”

Despite this variety, Danielle says there are three specific pieces of furniture that have proven perennially popular at Just Anthony. We run our eye over the three of them below.

Antique & Reproduction Wedding Cabinets

Reproduction wedding cabinets can be a fun way to inject colour into a room

These come in both antique and reproduction form. The antique pieces prove constantly popular due to their evergreen look, uniqueness and beautiful old red colour, which is very hard to replicate. The newer cabinets are available in a wide range of colours – and, again, different colours are introduced regularly; they’re also made slightly slimmer, which means they’re less bulky than their original counterpart.

The cabinets provide ample storage and two options for usage, coming with a removable hanging rod with three removable shelves inside. “So, if you’re using them as a wardrobe first and decide to switch the use to a storage unit later on, you can,” explains Danielle.

Ceramic Drum Stools

Ceramic stools come in a range of styles, including these classic blue and white pieces

These are available in a wide range of colours and patterns, from plain to brightly coloured, with birds and flowers, to the classic blue and white designs. They’re not only versatile, as most can be used outdoors or in the bathroom, but practical too. They’re also a great and easy way to introduce some colour into a room.

Reproduction Sideboards

Long sideboards work well in space-sensitive Singapore homes

These come in a wide range of on-trend colours, and a new hue is introduced each quarter. They’re long and slim, making them easy to place in space-sensitive Singapore, and they’re also versatile, fitting well in almost any room.

Amy has two kids, one dog and one husband - although she'd love to have more than one (dog, that is). She's mad about F45 training, running and playing Gaelic football, when she isn't injured or drinking a little too much wine.
