Vets in Singapore & other pet essentials

9th July 2019 by Lindsay Yap 3 Min Read

https://expatliving.sg/vets-in-singapore-great-animal-clinics-plus-emergency-phone-numbers/

It’s always reassuring to know there’s a vet on call, in case anything happens to the most important creatures in the house! Here, you’ll find our list of pet clinics that are open daily in Singapore, with emergency after-hours details too. We’ve also got the scoop on a place where you can buy fun pet products and basic supplies such as food. Plus, if your furry pals need looking after while you’re on holiday or a short break, you can read about a great pet hotel option.

Singpet

Singpet showroom products display

At Singpet, you’ll find everything from pet food and supplements to accessories such as grooming tools, and beds and toys for dogs, cats and other smaller animals. The company has a bricks-and-mortar store in Bishan and an online store if you’re too busy to shop in person. Note that the showroom is for members only, so you’ll need to register online before visiting. There’s an annual paid membership that offers access to wholesale prices up to 50% off on items, including pet food, medication, wellness products and accessories. Standard membership ($88) is limited to four pets per household and two delivery addresses. If you’ve got more than four fur-kids at home, we recommend getting the premium membership ($198); it’s also limited to two delivery addresses but entitles you to free delivery with no minimum spend.

The store carries a wide selection of products from international labels including PetEgo, Pet Apparel, Gooby and ThunderShirts. You’ll also be able to find wellness and food products from brands such as Nexgard and Honest Kitchen. Looking for a gift? There’s a fun range of home décor and gift ideas in store, from pillows and coasters to cute plushies and greeting cards.

Mutts & Mittens

Mutts & Mittens dog and staff pet boarding

The team at Mutts & Mittens understand how tough it is to leave your pups behind when you go away. They welcome questions and encourage owners to view their boarding facilities beforehand. The pet hotel has a 24-hour CCTV system and is open to special requests regarding items such as food and medical procedures. Rooms are comfy and air-conditioned, with elevated beds, food and water bowls. De-ticking treatments, weekly showers, kibbles, daily walks (and tummy rubs!) are included.

There are two resident vet nurses and a trainer on staff, so they’re able to monitor the wellbeing of your pets, administer medical procedures as required and properly respond to medical emergencies if they arise. This is especially helpful for owners with senior dogs who need more care! Additionally, if you’re away for a longer time (a month, for example), you can also sign your mischievous pup up for some training to correct any behavioural issues. The team’s trainer, Billy the Gentle Giant, will help get your pup back on track with positive training.

The Visiting Vets

Got a sickly fur-kid at home? The Visiting Vets offers a range of services, from consultations and house calls to diagnostic and surgical services and dental treatment. They can help administer vaccinations for dogs and cats, conduct x-rays, ultrasounds and surgeries. After-hours emergency services are also available for existing patients. If time is tight or your pets aren’t keen on leaving your home, you can opt for their house call service. Services include full health checks, vaccination and microchipping, behavioural advice, ear and skin treatment and senior care, wellness testing and advice.

Psst… Make sure you make an appointment before visiting the clinic. Also, if you wish to use your pet insurance, read through your policy terms to determine what can be claimed, as some policies exclude certain surgical procedures, pre-existing conditions and elective cosmetic procedures.
