New at Telunas Private Island
A favourite among many Expat Living readers, Telunas Private Island has now added to its 15 overwater villas with the Ridge Villas. The five exclusive couples-only villas are on a ridge and offer stunning sea views.
Each Ridge Villa features a private plunge pool and an oversized, air-conditioned, master bedroom with king bed facing the sea. There’s also an oversized ensuite bathroom with both an indoor and outdoor shower, and with after-tanning and massage essential oils provided. In the mornings, breakfast is served in the outdoor lounge area next to the private pool.
Experiences and meals
Telunas is renowned for embracing the flavour of the local environment and culture. It does this while also capturing all those elements couples love about a romantic getaway. One especially memorable experience at the resort is an overwater massage treatment at the spa. The other nice thing? You can also choose to be as active – try deck jumping for a big splash! – or as mellow as you like. (We like the sound of a nap in a beachfront hammock.) And there are beautiful sunset views to enjoy from the dining room, and evening bonfires under the stars!
The food at this private island resort combines traditional Indonesian and Western influences, and is served by friendly staff (while you enjoy those amazing views!). Full board is provided for all guests. This entitles you to three delicious daily meal experiences, including a choice of main dish for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
To ramp up the romance even more, the couples-only resort offer guests the option of a Candlelight Dinner, a magical evening with an exclusive multi-course menu that can be indulged in on the beach, by the pool – even on the jetty!
Getting there
Best of all, Telunas Private Island Resorts is so close you don’t have to fly. It’s just 50km south of Singapore, accessed via a 45-minute ferry ride to Batam, then 90 minutes on Telunas’s modified traditional wooden longboat that passes through picturesque mangrove forests on the way to the islands.
One thing to note: there is a five-to-ten-minute hike uphill on a paved walkway to access the couples-only Ridge Villas, so a moderate level of fitness is required. No need to worry about your luggage – the staff will ensure it gets delivered safely to your accommodation.
