Jewellery or clothes shopping in Singapore? Lucky us that there’s a pool of super talented designers creating beautiful, versatile and practical pieces – here are two local jewellery brands we think you’ll love!
Forbidden Hill – East-meets-West fine jewellery designed in Singapore
Located on the second storey of a shophouse on Bukit Pasoh Road, Forbidden Hill is a contemporary jewellery brand with a distinctive East-meets-West aesthetic. Co-founded by Ruth Pestana and David Aumonier and inspired by Ruth’s multicultural Straits heritage, this local brand creates unique pieces that celebrate the vibrancy of the region, from its diverse cultures to its natural wonders. Its popular Hexagon Coral collection is inspired by the region’s coral reefs. And through its Coral Kind initiative, the brand supports reef conservation in Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.
Forbidden Hill’s customisable Silk Jewellery, which has over 40 interchangeable silk colours, offers versatile styling to match any outfit, both for him and for her. Other collections bring pops of colour to your look with stunning gemstones or vibrant resins set in precious metals. The products are designed in Singapore and crafted by carefully selected production partners in Southeast Asia.

Lustre Jewellery – local jewellery brand in Singapore
Self-taught jewellery designer Anaita Thakkar launched her Singapore brand Lustre Jewellery in 2014, and it quickly gained a loyal following among expats and locals alike. Collection after collection features bold, distinctive artisanal jewellery in limited runs, crafted in fine materials and all-natural gemstones. Each one draws inspiration from far and wide and complements the multifaceted roles that today’s modern women hold. The best part? New designs are added regularly, so there’s always a new fabulous piece to fall in love with.
If you enjoy discovering jewellery in a more personal setting, definitely book an appointment at the Lustre Studio. Hidden away in a quiet, green pocket of Bukit Timah, the appointment-only space lets you browse the collections at leisure. You can admire the natural gemstones up close and even chat with Anaita about personalising a piece or choosing the right gemstone. It’s a lovely and relaxing way to experience jewellery at your own pace!
