Is your child scared of the dentist?

25th February 2019 by Anthia Chng 2 Min Read

It’s important to start the kids with regular dental care, but we know dentist check-ups can be a bit scary for them (and us). We were interested to hear that T32 Dental Group has a dedicated paediatric department, T32 Junior. Read on to learn more about the orthodontic services, facilities and activities that will make your child’s trip to the dentist less daunting and more positive.

Kid-friendly facilities

T32 Junior Centre aims to fight the fear by creating an educational and comfortable environment for every child who visits. Kids can look forward to an entertainment area with a great selection of family-friendly movies and games, including Xbox 360 gaming. Another noteworthy aspect is the treatment rooms, which are decorated according to cartoon themes, and equipped with ceiling TV monitors and well-designed wireless headphones to put your kid at ease. They’ll soon see that visiting the dentist can be fun, too!

A programme for kids

Apart from kid-friendly facilities, T32 has also created its very own kids programme: T32 Junior Oral Health Programme. Designed to nurture the concept of good oral health to young pre-schoolers in a fun and structured way, activities include excursions to the Junior Centre, where children will be introduced to the dentist. They’ll also get to try out the dental equipment used, which can help to eliminate any fear or anxiety experienced at the clinic. Another interesting aspect of the programme is the Show and Tell activity, where your little ones will learn how to brush their teeth the right way.

T32 Junior Dental Services include six monthly check-ups, extractions, dental prophylaxis (cleaning and polishing), simple orthodontic appliances, preventive advice and more. For the full list of services, visit t32dental.com/children-dentistry.

Meet the orthodontic specialists

The T32 team comprises qualified dentists who are experienced in treating orthodontic issues – from crooked or spaced-out teeth, to protruding teeth, improper bites and jaw disharmonies. Apart from well-known solutions like braces and invisible braces offered at T32 centres, they also offer Myofunctional Therapy, where poor oral habits are treated and corrected from a young age. Providing quality orthodontic care for adults and children, these orthodontic centres are fully-equipped with dental operating theatres, consultation rooms, a laboratory, a digital computer tomography (CT) scanning chamber, as well as a spacious lounge for patients and families.

Hear from a dental surgeon

“You can start getting your child used to cleaning their teeth even before their teeth have erupted. Wipe your child’s gums twice a day with a soft cloth or disposable child’s tooth wipes (for example, Spiffies). Make tooth-brushing a fun family activity. Children like to mimic what their parents or older siblings do, so brush together with them and make it a game. The first dental visit is often meant to familiarise your child with the dentist and the dental clinic, rather than to do any actual treatment. Try not to wait until there is a problem such as a cavity or traumatic injury before bringing in your child.”
