Nauti: All Things Naughty and Nautical

For its third anniversary, secondary art marketplace Art Again presents its largest exhibition to date, Nauti: All Things Naughty and Nautical.

Nauti tells the story of two subjects that shaped Singaporean art from the 1960s to the 2000s: the nautical, in the bumboats, rivers and quays, and the ‘naughty’, in nude studies, figure work and bathers. Both were painted in the same decades, often by the same artists, but they led very different lives. One was celebrated and collected into the National Collection; the other was kept quietly in the private rooms of collectors’ homes. Nauti brings the two together for the first time.

The show gathers over 50 works from 15 private collections, by major names including Cheong Soo Pieng, Chua Ek Kay, Lim Tze Peng and Teng Nee Cheong, all available for purchase. A rare chance to view, and own, a piece of Singapore’s art history.
