Blow-dry, blow-out and hair style options at hairdressers in Singapore
Whether you call it a blow-out or a blow-dry, going to a hair salon in Singapore for a completely new hair style or to tame your curly hair is always nice. And it doesn’t have to be for an important meeting or date! We tried out a few hairdressers in Singapore to see how they could transform our hair (and fight the humidity) to get us looking party-ready.
The Blonde Tourage for a wonderful wash & blow-dry!
I recently visited The Blonde Tourage, a charming salon right in the heart of Chinatown on Club Street. The salon has a delightful pink decor that instantly lifts your mood as you walk in. Cat, the owner and stylist, is bursting with personality, full of verve and stories, and clearly very skilled. We spent some time discussing exactly what I wanted: soft curls with a bit of volume. She also made sure to address my concerns about heat damage and explained the protective products she would use.

The hair styling process was thorough and relaxing. Cat started with a round brush technique, carefully working through each section of my hair, then used a curling tong to create curls that felt soft but lasting. She even pinned them to cool, which helped them hold their shape beautifully. Watching my hair style transform under her hands was fun, and I could tell she genuinely enjoyed her work.
The result of the blow-dry was gorgeous: voluminous, bouncy curly hair that gave a polished, glamorous look. I left feeling confident and well cared for. The only regret I had was not having a big event to attend that night to show off my gorgeous locks! Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I left feeling that my hair was in the best hands.

Bedford & Grove Salon for a blow-dry for curly hair – with a view!
I had an amazing experience at Bedford & Grove Salon on the 21st floor of Clarke Quay Central – and loved the view so much I wanted to live there!
I mostly leave my hair curly as it works better in Singapore’s humidity, but it never looks tidy, so every now and then I like to go for a proper blow-dry. My hairdresser Samiksha was lovely and clearly knew her way around curly hair.

Having your hair washed at a salon is so nice – you could almost hear my purring. Afterwards, we had a chat about my hair and whether to do the curly method or go sleek. I really wanted to see what the colour was like when my hair was smooth. Especially with all the grey mixed in at the moment, it’s not great when it’s curly.
The blow-dry itself was expertly done and I was really happy with the outcome. My hair looked so long and very posh! Such a nice treat!

Chez Vous Hair Salon (Flagship Store) for fabulous hair styling
I’d forgotten how nice it is to get a proper blow-dry until my recent visit to Chez Vous at Ngee Ann City. Winnie led me to my seat (with a pull-out table if you need to sneak in some work) and a delicious lychee yuzu drink appeared alongside a little piece of cake. I felt pampered already!
What’s unique here is that your first shampoo happens at your seat while you’re sitting up, so you’re perfectly positioned for the neck and shoulder massage that follows. After, I was whisked off to a plush bed for the second shampoo using Avante’s Duo products formulated for the scalp and hair. The lavender scent with Winnie’s heavenly scalp massage had me instantly dosing off.

The blow-dry was done by Serene, a hairdresser in Singapore who’s been perfecting her craft at this salon for over two decades. So I knew I was in excellent hands. She walked me through the difference between curling iron curls versus blow-dry curls. I went for the latter for a more natural looking result. After a few spritzes of anti-frizz heat protectant, she worked methodically section by section, taking extra time on each since my coarse hair usually makes it difficult for curls to hold.
I absolutely loved how my hair turned out: soft bouncy curls with a bit of va-va-voom, without that structured look you sometimes get with curling irons. Every curl was slightly different and natural looking. This is something only a professional can achieve! If you’ve got a big event coming up or just want to feel like a million bucks, I’d definitely recommend booking in at Chez Vous.

Trimmings Salon & Spa in Tudor Court on Tanglin Road
The head massage started before I even got to the basin! After a quick check on how I wanted the blow-dry done (straight, with body on top), a scalp cleanser was sprayed through my hair roots which were then massaged by 10 expert fingertips. My eyes closed and my 45 minutes of pampering began.
At the sink, I was asked if I wanted warm (yes, please!) or cold water to wash with. Two rounds of cleansing then conditioner – all stages involving blissful head massaging. A hot towel with eucalyptus scent was wrapped around my head for a couple of minutes, which was heavenly. Back at my chair, a deep elbow-and-arm-driven massage on my neck, shoulders and upper back relieved any last remaining tension.

The blow-dry was quickly and expertly done, with heat treatment, root lift spray and some serum and setting spray to finish. Straightening tongs were used a bit but not on the ends – they do keep the kinks and frizz at bay for longer.
The treatment used mainly Aveda and Kevin Murphy products, and my hair was lovely, soft and smooth at the end. It looked good for three full days over a weekend filled with events and activities – all for only $61! A bargain for a massage with a wash and blow-dry thrown in.

Expat Hair Studio for a fantastic blow-dry in Joo Chiat
Is there anything better than a blow-dry? There’s something so luxurious about treating yourself to one, especially in Singapore’s humidity where frizzy hair can leave you feeling totally frazzled.
The hairdressers at Expat Hair Studio located in Joo Chiat have been a go-to favourite for those wanting a quality cut, colour or blow-dry in Singapore. It was my first time visiting the salon, and I was ready for some pampering!

I was greeted by hairdresser Andrew, and we chatted about my blow-dry goals – not too flat and with some bounce. After a relaxing shampoo, conditioner and head massage (my favourite part!), I settled back in the chair while Andrew got to work. He towel-dried my hair and applied a lightweight volumising mousse to help the style hold. Then the magic began as he blow-dried with a barrel brush, working through section by section before adding a few strategic curls with heat tongs for extra polish.
In just an hour, my mane had been transformed from frizzy to fabulous. And the hair style still looked great two days later!
