Review Crew: Margarita mania!

17th April 2019 by Expat Living 2 Min Read

https://expatliving.sg/best-margaritas-in-singapore/

The Review Crew is at it again, this time in search of the perfect Margarita for Cinco de Mayo. Lucky for us, our driver Bob from transfer company Wolero shuttled us around so we could really enjoy the night!

CAFE IGUANA, Riverside Point

An institution in Singapore, the Patron Margarita ($15) was downright delicious, a near perfect margarita. The Passionfruit and Peach Margarita ($15), on the other hand, was mouth-puckeringly sweet. The flight of salsa was beautifully served, but sadly it looked better than it tasted.

Cafe Iguana

MARGARITAS, Block 11 Dempsey

This huge, bright and airy spot is good for crowds and serves up a wide variety of margs with great service. The Super Premium Patron ($24) was tasty, but served in a small glass with tiny pieces of ice (“like rubble”) that melted too quickly. The Strawberry ($18.50) was far too sweet for our liking.

SEÑOR TACO, Various Locations

We tried the small, ambience-less taqueria on the ground floor of Orchard Towers where they make one kind of margarita ($15): strong and yummy. They do have one twist – a Coronita ($24), a marg with an upside-down Corona in it; also surprisingly yummy, and a good one for sharing with the hubby. (Ladies, start the marg and let the men finish when it gets too “beery”.) Hands down, this place had the best chips and salsa, making it the perfect quick-fix spot or a stop after a late night out.

PIEDRA NEGRA, 241 Beach Road

Haji Lane is always hopping and this colourful spot is no exception, but go for the ambience and live music, not the margaritas. Both the Shaken Margarita ($15) and the Smoky Margarita ($16) were seemingly made from a mix and weren’t all that tasty, though the Smoky was a little better than the plain. The high note? The fresh salsa was lovely.

Piedra Negra

SUPER LOCO, Several Locations

The fun restaurant on the river at Quayside serves up great food and, it turns out, a variety of great margs. The El Classico ($18) was “just as a margarita should be” – very fresh with just the right amount of lime. The Blood Orange & Guava ($17) tasted more like a cocktail or a great breakfast juice and was “far too drinkable”. This place has it all really: great margs, great food, great ambience.

Super Loco

Looking for the perfect limo for a great night out? Easy! Just log on to wolero.com and book now.
