What happens when you combine cyber rock, performance art and three bald men painted indigo? You create the world famous Blue Man Group! This electric performance art trio bewitches audiences through music, comedy and captivating visuals. Before their Bluevolution World Tour hits the stage, we find out what to expect at their new and outrageous theatre show in Singapore. Hint: It involves pounding on paint-covered drums and sci-fi circus scenes!
The origins of the Blue Man Group
Over 30 years ago, a trio of brilliantly blue and bald men hit the stage at Astor Place Theatre in New York. The Blue Man Group brought to life a loud, chaotic and techno punk world which the trio explored with the audience. The show and characters immediately became theatrical pop culture icons.
Co-founder Chris Wink says, “When we first began creating performances centred on this innocent, curious character called Blue Man, we never dreamt where he would lead us. Today, we’re so honoured to be able to share our show with the people of Singapore and beyond.”
How the Bluevolution World Tour is adding a fresh new take
With her electric blue hair, an eccentric look and dynamic musical stylings, The Rockstar is the newest addition to the group. This brand new lady-in-blue character is an amazing multi-instrumentalist. She’ll be replacing the band and also taking over as the master of ceremonies and rituals.
While Blue Man groupies can expect to experience all the favourite multi-sensory moments of the show, this tour is also serving up a whole new slew of brand new content. The result, says the group, is a euphoric performance art display that celebrates human connection through art, music, comedy and non-verbal communication.
What audiences can expect at this theatre show in Singapore
Ask any of the 50 million people who have seen the Blue Man Group and they will probably say something like “it’s hard to explain.” The characters don’t speak and the performance art production is packed to the rafters with surprises. Audiences simply can’t help themselves but to laugh out loud and party with the three blue characters exploring the world.
So what can you expect at this theatre show in Singapore? It’s hard to explain… However, what the Blue Man Group can promise is that you will be absolutely entertained as they rock your socks off with a brand new show filled with explosions of paint, water and sound.
