As the size of our living spaces decreases, dining rooms often no longer exist and dining areas don’t operate as just places to eat. They are now work and meeting places, home offices, craft benches, homework spaces and small business production areas! We spoke to several readers about which shops in Singapore they found dining room that are perfect for them.
WTP – John Glynn, Australian
“My wife and I had just moved to Singapore with our two children and we were on the hunt not only for a house, but for practically every piece of furniture. As fate would have it, we were referred to WTP during our search for an apartment, and we were thrilled to discover that their range of furniture matched our style and budget.
We ended up purchasing most of our furniture from them, including our L-shaped sofa, beds and outdoor furniture. Our favourite piece, however, was the dining table made of recycled teak and with an iron base. We chose to pair it with the sixpiece statement dining chairs from their new collection. WTP founder Naazli endearingly referred to them as the “Watermelon Chairs”, as they’re a mix of pink and turquoise and evoke a fresh summer vibe; we couldn’t agree more!
We had a great experience with the team; they took the time to get to know us and learn what we were after. They also helped to set up and assemble our items, and even provided rental furniture for pieces that weren’t available straight away. Thanks to WTP, we began to feel at home sooner rather than later!”
Gallery 278 – Nicole Beste-Fopma, Dutch
“It’s hard to imagine that before moving to Singapore we had been living in a serviced apartment in Shanghai for one and a half years! Not only did we arrive with zero furniture, but we also lacked the basics like cutlery, pots and pans – even a vacuum cleaner! Luckily, Felicia and the Gallery 278 team were recommended to us by our relocation manager and they helped make the furniture hunt smooth and swift.
My husband and I love wooden furniture; it’s warm and welcoming and really helps turn a house into a home. We also love furniture that’s functional while still having character, and that little “something“ that sets it apart – and Gallery 278 has just that! We purchased nearly all of our things from them, but one of our highlights is our dining table. Made of teak and traditionally assembled without the use of screws, it’s a special piece to us. The legs give it a unique look and it’s also an ideal size both for couples or for families. We have four boys who aren’t with us at the moment, but when they visit, I look forward to family dinners around the table.
Felicia and Sara were friendly, helpful and ever so patient. They took the time to understand my needs and match my budget, providing alternatives where and when necessary – we couldn’t have done it without them.”
