We all know how much a good facial can do – it clears the complexion, eliminates water retention and lifts the contours, leaving you with a fresher-looking canvas right after. In dire need of a facial rejuvenation, the EL team headed to organic beauty salon Pure Tincture’s two outlets to test drive four treatments for different skin types. Read on for the lowdown!
For mature skin: Pure Tincture Signature Ultra Firming Treatment ($415 for 120 minutes)
The three key elements to this tightening and brightening facial were lymphatic drainage, full face radiofrequency (RF) and LED light immersion. Around this, I was also treated to a variety of skin treatments, including cleansing and exfoliating, a face and shoulder massage, customised masks, and extraction. My therapist Jean said I had fairly thin skin, so she leaned towards the gentle side during the treatment. All the products used were organic and rich in antioxidants, and boasted firming benefits. Jean also told me to expect a red spot or two over the course of the next couple of days, and she was right, although these weren’t particularly noticeable. My puffy eyes had disappeared, and my skin felt uplifted and completely rehydrated, too.
For those pushed for time, or money, Pure Tincture offers an Express RF facial, which takes one hour and costs $220. Customers can take out a package that offers 30 percent off, therefore reducing this price to $154, or the signature treatment to $290.

For sensitive skin: PAI Skin Confidence Detox & Decongest Facial ($180 for 90 minutes)
Over the past couple of months, my skin had become more sensitive than usual and I was breaking out rather frequently. This facial came at just the right time; I needed something that was potent enough to clear my clogged pores, yet gentle enough for my sensitive skin.
At Pure Tincture, facials can be customised for specific skin needs. As I have sensitive skin that leans towards the oily end, my therapist Jeanne decided to use a combination of products to cater to that. After cleansing came exfoliation, where Jeanne applied a OSEA Vitamin C scrub to get rid of dead skin and soothe any inflammation. As expected, the extraction process was painful, but it was also completely bearable. I was then treated to an indulgent face massage and a purifying mask from PAI, which draws out impurities without stripping the skin of its moisture. Two hours later, I left the salon completed refreshed and rejuvenated. My skin looked clearer and all the blackheads were gone, without extraction marks!”

For dry skin: Ultra Hydrating Signature ($340 for 120 minutes)
My therapist Minnah started by introducing the products that would be used during my treatment, while I happily sipped on a cup of warm ginger tea. I was initially scheduled for a Josh Rosebrook Advanced Hydrating Facial, but after Minnah had analysed my skin condition – it was dry and dehydrated with redness and sensitivity around my nose area – she advised that we switch to the Ultra Hydrating Facial instead, while sticking to the hydrating products from the Josh Rosebrook line.
The facial involved cleansing, steaming, a purifying mask and scrub, extraction, eye massage, head, neck and shoulder massage, a hydrating mask, eye mask and a LED light treatment. I was honestly dreading the extraction (I have a very low pain threshold) but surprisingly, the pain was tolerable. The highlight for me was the eye massage, as it was extremely soothing for my tired eyes. After the session, my skin was soft, supple and glowy. The redness from the extraction was minimal and my face felt thoroughly hydrated for the next few days.

For oily or acne-prone skin: OSEA Deep Pore Dynamic Facial ($200 for 90 minutes)
This was my first time going for facial so I was unsure of what to expect. My therapist Minnah was a sweet lady who took the time to brief me on the aspects of the treatment – the steps involved and the possible pain involved during extraction. OSEA products, which are formulated with pure, marine-based ingredients, were used to cleanse and clear impurities, while adding moisture and balance to my skin. They smelled absolutely amazing, and made me feel more at ease, too!
Right after the facial, my face felt more hydrated and bouncy. Over the next few days, my colleagues and friends also commented on how “glowy” my face looked. I’m even thinking of purchasing a couple of the OSEA products used during the treatment! I would consider returning for a second treatment, and would definitely recommend it to those who want an indulgent and relaxing facial experience.
