Lived experience often sparks the beginnings of a business idea. This was the case for Singapore-based entrepreneur NOEMIE ALINTISSAR-MOONEY, who channelled her personal transformation and zeal for fitness, nutrition and psychology into a holistic health coaching programme.
Tell us about your personal journey and how it inspired you to be a health coach and launch Unwritten Coaching.
I’ve been on a personal health and wellbeing rollercoaster over the past few years. Like many of us, I was prioritising work while neglecting my physical and mental wellbeing. I had just about every “bad” habit imaginable: drinking, smoking, late nights, you name it. Everything came crashing down during the pandemic, which pushed me to start taking small steps to feel better. These eventually led to a big transformation, physically and emotionally.
My background is in innovation, where I work with businesses to design creative solutions to complex problems. Over time, I realised that many of the tools I used in my work, like design thinking and behavioural science, could be just as powerful when applied on a personal level.
That realisation, combined with my passion for fitness, nutrition, psychology and personal development, motivated me to be a health coach and launch Unwritten Coaching. It’s my way of helping people take control of their lives, design lifestyles aligned with their values and aspirations, and equip themselves with practical tools to transform their relationships with their bodies and themselves.
What kinds of health coaching do you offer?
So far, I’ve been offering one-on-one coaching, and I’m now launching my online group coaching programme. It’s based on my methodology, “Wellbeing by Design”, which combines positive psychology, behaviour design, coaching, and practical health and wellness fundamentals. The goal is to help people design the lives they want and build the habits needed to make that vision a reality.
How do you help clients uncover and rewrite personal narratives?
Clients often come to me wanting to make changes like starting a diet, drinking less, or exercising more, but struggle to sustain them. Together, we use a simple framework to turn their goals into actionable steps, build self-awareness and self-compassion and address the behaviours and selflimiting beliefs holding them back.
My approach is rooted in coaching, positive psychology and behaviour design principles, so we approach their challenge like a designer solving a problem. Through experimentation, we test small changes to discover what works for their unique lives. It’s not about perfection but about meaningful progress.
What challenges have you faced in the coaching space?
Standing out in a crowded space is definitely a challenge. My approach is a little different, but I’m staying true to it, even though it’s not the easiest “sell” compared to quick-fix alternatives. That said, I really believe in my method, and as long as it helps people create the change they want in their lives, I’ll continue to focus on that.
What advice would you give to someone who feels stuck and is unsure how to take the first step toward change?
Start small! Like, really small. The first step doesn’t have to be huge or dramatic, it just has to get you moving. Think of one tiny habit or action that aligns with the kind of person you’d like to be, and commit to it daily. Progress comes from consistent, manageable changes rather than big leaps. And remember, you’re not stuck – you’re just in the process of rewriting your story.
If you’re looking to kick-start your own journey to meaningful change – be it weight loss, improved nutrition, better sleep, more movement, better interpersonal connections or positive mental health – get in touch with Noemie for a free 30-minute chat.
