Sofa bed and mattress in Singapore – Gallery 278
Recommendation by Iwan de Leeuw van Weenen, Dutch
I was looking for a good bed and mattress in Singapore that would be comfortable when guests are visiting, but could be used for other purposes at other times, to make the most use of the living space.
I found Gallery 278 by Esco Leasing online when I was looking for options to furnish my apartment. Shopping with them was a great personal experience – the staff really were very inquisitive in terms of what I was looking for and what would work in the apartment, and they even brought additional ideas to the table. I was not just “sold” furniture or a leasing product, but received additional tips and advice as to how I could make the most of the apartment.
I ended up leasing (with a buy-out at the end of the lease) a bed, but also a sofa, a shoe cabinet, a dining room table with four chairs, a standing lamp, two bedside tables, a day bed, a desk and a bookshelf. (And later also bought a TV stand!) Overall, I wanted to go for a slightly more “rustic” Asian look with lighter colours (the apartment was originally furnished with very dark colours) as the finishes in the apartment are also of a lighter colour.
I’m very happy with the result so far and am still working with Gallery 278 by Esco Leasing on some additional design ideas to finish the look and feel of the apartment, including hanging some artworks and finishing the living room with a small carpet, coffee table and plants.

Heveya – Good quality pillows and mattresses in Singapore
Recommendation by Weina and JP, Swiss
JP has chronic back and neck problems so we were primarily looking for a quality mattress in Singapore that had good neck and back support. Our previous Asian-sized mattress was also slightly too short for him so we wanted to change to a longer mattress for a better fit. The other key criteria was the natural material used. We had made the change to 100 percent natural latex for our kids a few years back and now that it was time to get a new one for us, we were keen on having something completely natural to avoid issues with off-gassing and allergies.
We searched the internet for weeks, and I also looked on Facebook forums focused on “natural health”. There are a few very good options for high-quality natural latex mattresses and it was frankly quite hard to choose.
We ended up visiting several showrooms and in the end it was JP who picked Heveya. We had a great experience with Heveya. The showroom is lovely, and our salesperson Tere was extremely helpful without being pushy. We were given ample time to try out the different mattress firmness and ask questions.
We opted for the Heveya II as the two-layer mattress was already comfy enough for us. It was also nice of them to offer us the option to add the topper to make our bed into a Heveya III at a later stage if we wished to.
JP loved the pillows, too – finding this ideal combination of products drove his decision to pick Heveya over the other brands. We also had to buy a new bed frame and Heveya helped us coordinate the ordering with Soul & Tables.
I personally am not very discerning when it comes to mattresses but I love the idea of having a 100 percent natural bed and have been sleeping very well on it. JP has definitely felt improvement in his sleep so we’re both very happy. Tere was also very good at following up with us after the purchase to make sure everything was fine. We would definitely buy from Heveya again.
