EL’s Jacqui Young enjoys a stay in a serene palm-lined Dubai hotel – the Jumeirah Dar Al Masyaf.
Located in the UAE’s biggest city, the Madinat Jumeirah complex is right near the distinctive sail-shaped Burj Al Arab. It includes the Jumeirah Dar Al Masyaf, a Dubai hotel that blends traditional architecture, Arabian houses like the Palm House, with modern sophistication.
Peace and quiet in Palm House
We stayed in a Palm House Lagoon Room, one of the most coveted types of accommodation in this stunning resort. The rooms are located in a series of large Arabian houses perched along the serene waterways of the resort. The design inspiration comes from traditional homes in the region, giving the feel of a luxurious summer house.
At the heart of each house is an indoor majlis (sitting room) that flows into a central outdoor courtyard surrounded by 10 or so spacious private rooms and suites. All the rooms and suites have terraces that overlook waterways, gardens or the sea.
From the moment we entered this Dubai hotel, we were transported. There’s a tranquil atmosphere here, with beautiful views of lush, landscaped gardens and a gently flowing lagoon. The sight and sound of water is soothing, making the Palm House Lagoon Room an ideal choice for anyone looking to unwind.
New design unveiled
There’s so much space and light in these rooms, too, especially since the Jumeirah Dar Al Masyaf’s recent refurbishment by La Bottega Interiors. The modern finishes, neutral tones, intricate Arabic designs and plush furnishings create an inviting atmosphere. Large windows let natural light flood the room, giving a bright, airy feel and framing the breathtaking views. It’s the perfect mix of opulent Arabian heritage and tranquil modern aesthetic.
The rooms are super spacious, with kingsized beds, luxurious linens and pillows, plus state-of-the-art technology, including interactive entertainment systems, highspeed Wi-Fi, and large flat-screen TVs. The bathrooms feature a deep soaking tub and separate rainfall shower, with high-end toiletries, soft bathrobes and slippers. And there’s a cosy terrace for unwinding with a good book or a drink.
Guests staying in the Palm House Lagoon Rooms also have access to a shared private pool and the resort’s private beach and luxurious Talise Spa. This made it easy to enjoy both relaxation and adventure during our stay.
