As the size of our living spaces decreases, dining rooms often no longer exist and dining tables don’t operate as just places to eat. They are now work and meeting places, desks, craft benches, homework spaces and small business production areas. There’s some pretty cool dining room furniture in Singapore but remember dining chairs have to be comfortable as well as good looking!

We had just moved to a new house and the dining table was one of the first pieces of furniture we purchased for the place. We love to cook and host and, for us, the dining table is the heart of the home, where friends and family gather for conversation and connection.
It was therefore important to us to have a large dining table that would seat at least eight but still fit in the space well, as our dining room is relatively narrow. We also wanted a wooden table for a sturdy finish (so important with three small kids) – and we also thought the wood would add warmth to the interior.
Our interior stylist, House of Chais, recommended Island Living to us for furniture shopping, and we fell in love with the Nordika dining table at first sight. The reclaimed teak gave it a rustic and textured look, and we also thought the wood contrasted really nicely with the sleek black metal legs. We felt this table would age well and stand up to the wear and tear of life with three kids.
We love the dining table and have already hosted many happy gatherings around it since we moved in! We would definitely buy from Island Living again as their pieces are beautiful, functional and durable.
