The Decanter Fine Wine Encounter returns to Singapore on 22 November for a one-day Grand Tasting: 50 producers, hundreds of wines, plus masterclasses and a Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA) Winners’ Table. This wine tasting event is designed for curious drinkers as much as collectors. To answer your key questions – what’s new, which producers to look for, and how to plan your visit – we speak with JEANNE THEXTON, events manager at Decanter. Plus, read on for a special ticket offer for EL readers.

What is the Grand Tasting?
A one-day tasting featuring 50 producers and hundreds of fine wines from across the world. You can move at your own pace, compare styles side-by-side and speak directly to the people behind the labels. Each producer will open five wines, plus one special bottle from their own collection reserved for the event.
What’s new this year?
For the first time in Singapore, we will have Dassai sake alongside a large selection of Koshu selection in partnership with Koshu of Japan. You’ll also see a strong Asia lineup with names such as Ao Yun (Yunnan) and Long Dai (Shandong), together with classic regions from Europe, the US and the Southern Hemisphere.
Is the Decanter Fine Wine Encounter a good day out with friends or a date?
Yes! If you’re curious about wine and want to taste widely without any sales pressure, the Decanter Fine Wine Encounter is a relaxed, high-calibre way to do it. You’ll leave with a clearer sense of what you like – useful for restaurant lists or stocking a small home rack.
Which producers are attending?
Expect headline estates and recognisable producers from across the map – Bordeaux’s Château Pichon Baron, Champagne’s Laurent-Perrier, Provence’s Château d’Esclans, Tuscany’s Marchesi Frescobaldi, Napa’s Silver Oak, Spain’s Muga, New Zealand’s Cloudy Bay, and China’s Ao Yun. It’s a genuine world tour in one room.
Tell us about the “special wines”.
Each Grand Tasting producer is bringing one standout bottle from their cellar – often a top cuvée, older vintage or a large format bottle. Think Laurent-Perrier Grand Siècle Itération No. 26 (NV), Château Pichon Baron 2014 (jeroboam), Château Bélair-Monange 2010, Clos Apalta 2004 (double magnum), Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 (magnum) and Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2006 – with more special bottles to be revealed on the event site.
What is the Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA) Winners’ Table?
Access is included with your Grand Tasting ticket. This table features Decanter World Wine Awards 2025 medal-winners – Gold, Platinum and Best in Show – selected through large-scale blind judging by international experts. It’s a great way to try high-scoring bottles in one place.
Do I need to be a wine expert?
No. Producers are happy to explain regions, grapes and styles in plain language. Use the tasting booklet to mark favourites and snap label photos to find later.
Any planning tips?
Start with sparkling and whites, then lighter reds, then fuller styles. Use the spittoons, drink water and pause for a snack. Set a simple theme for yourself – “Pinot across regions” or “Mediterranean whites” – so your palate stays fresh. Consider ride-hailing so you can taste responsibly.
