Artistic inspiration
After months of renovations, Pearl Lam Galleries is now open at Dempsey Hill – and it’s the ideal place to discover new talent. A key player in Asia’s contemporary art scene, Pearl Lam Galleries has been exhibiting Asian and Western works for over 20 years in China and beyond. The new location is a perfect fit for one of the Galleries’ core beliefs; a former colonial military barracks, Dempsey Hill embraces the past and respects local cultures while looking towards the future. The first Dempsey exhibition (1-31 March) is “What You See Is What You See”, a group show featuring local and international artists including Chun Kwang Young, Leonardo Drew, Kim Tschang-Yeul, Francis Ng, Su Xiaobai, Zhou Yangming and Zhu Jinshi.

The Italian touch
The recently opened Little Italy – Embassy of Style was born to bring some Italian magic to every aspect of your life. Created as a showcase for Italian food, fashion, design and more, it focuses on small producers and entrepreneurs. Head there for a killer cappuccino or a glass of crisp and cool Sicilian wine before browsing the rails of elegantly nonchalant designs from Alfie Browns, or discovering the secrets of Italian home cooking at one of the great value classes ($29, including an Italian breakfast and an eat-what-you-make lunch). Little Italy is also available for events and is a great way to add a sleek Italian touch to any party.
