A multi-agency initiative managed by the Singapore Fashion Council, it’s the largest one-stop shop on the island for local brands. It also runs over 120 activations a year, so there’s always something new and exciting to experience.

The Singapore Fashion Council’s purpose is to provide an integrated retail and incubation space for emerging Singapore brands. Level 1 of Design Orchard is the dynamic retail showcase where you’ll find quality lifestyle products made by local designers – everything from fashion, to jewellery, boutique gin, candles, customised perfume and more! And for the designers, upstairs in the Cocoon Space is where the magic happens.
Innovation by talented artisans is the order of the day here. Every six months, a call-out is made for local designers to apply to Design Orchard, with Singaporeans and also expat permanent residents eligible for a space. This ongoing curation process means that the 100 Singapore brands in the permanent collection often change. The result? An exciting and eclectic experience for shoppers seeking cutting-edge products. Refreshingly, there’s also a good range of price points to suit every wallet.
In the spirit of innovation, Design Orchard offers value-added services including online and virtual video call sessions for members. Once your sales consultant has helped to hand-select your gift, you’ll pay online, and can swing by for curbside pick-up, or arrange for the products to be delivered at your convenience. Shopping doesn’t get any more user-friendly than that!
Experience amazing activations at Design Orchard
The Singapore Fashion Council is committed to personnel development. Design Orchard is more than just a retail space, it’s about educating and enabling every person who walks through its doors, shoppers and staff alike. It’s all about people serving people. It’s clear to see that the knowledgeable and smiling shop assistants genuinely love coming to work every day.
To complement the permanent collections, Design Orchard runs around 120 activations a year. These activations include events, exhibitions, buskers, workshops and tours. With a diverse array of activations, there’s something new to check out in-store every four to six weeks. In addition, there’s plenty of pop-ups each year, meaning that the retail space can change overnight, from a men’s fashion line to an art exhibition!
Upcoming activations and wellness workshops
The latest activation is “Say I do to wellness”, running from now until early July. Learn and engage with a great series of workshops by Singapore brands including kombucha brewing, journaling, barre classes, skincare tutorials – even sock embroidery! All activations are designed for people wanting culturally enriching experiences to boost mood and reduce stress. Workshops aimed at promoting good mental health and also relaxation? We like the sound of that.
Singapore brands spotlight – Fawn Labs
Local clean beauty brand Fawn Labs is running a fabulous workshop as part of the wellness activation. Offering simple, organic, artisanal skincare Fawn Labs is committed to delivering nutrients direct from the lab to your skin, without impacting the planet.
Fawn Labs founder Hann Chia will take you through a hands-on demonstration during the Gua Sha and double cleansing workshop. The session focuses on the ideology of slow beauty and also mindfulness in your beauty and relaxation routines. You’ll walk away not only feeling rejuvenated, but with your very own Gua Sha tool to use at home.
Singapore brands spotlight – Singlapa Collection
Another standout local brand at Design Orchard is Singlapa Collection, known for its innovative approach to capturing various cultural aspects of Asian countries through watercolour art. Its range of beautiful textiles feature iconic elements like Singaporean hawker food, Peranakan teapots and Mahjong tiles. Cultural heritage is preserved with vibrant art printed on everyday essentials like cushion covers, bags, tableware and tea towels. It’s a unique gift for a special someone who appreciates the little luxuries in life.
Socialise at Design Orchard
Before you head back out into the hustle and bustle, why not head upstairs to the entertaining space? A new café is slated to open in July. It’s a lovely spot to relax and have a bite with friends overlooking the twinkling lights of Orchard Road. You might also catch some live music if you’re lucky!
