Logic puzzles to test the grey matter!
#1 Alice is looking at Paul. Paul is looking at Mia. Alice is married, Mia is not, and we don’t know if Paul is married or not. Is a married person looking at an unmarried person?
#2 The day before two days after the day before tomorrow is Wednesday. What day is it today?
#3 Five people are eating curry puffs. Person A finishes before person B, but behind C. Person D finishes before E, but behind B. What was the finishing order?
Answers:
#1 Yes. If Paul is married, then he is married and looking at Mia, who is unmarried. If Paul is unmarried, then Alice, who is married, is looking at him. Either way, the statement is true.
#2 Tuesday. The “day before tomorrow” is today, and “the day before two days after” is the same as saying “one day after”. If Wednesday is one day after today, then today is Tuesday.
#3 CABDE. Taking the first three eaters, their order of finishing is CAB. D came next (“behind B”), followed by E.
