7 places to get your food fix at Cluny court

28th October 2017 by Anthia Chng 3 Min Read

Popular boutique shopping centre Cluny Court is undoubtedly one of our favourite haunts, not just for its trove of fashion finds but also because it houses a great selection of dining options. Here are seven spots to visit for some pre- or post-shopping fuel.

1. The Affogato Bar

Cluny court restaurants

An affogato is an Italian dessert made with a scoop of ice cream topped with a fresh shot of hot espresso, and this cosy, 15-seater café offers different styles of the drink featuring locally made ice cream paired with Dimattina Coffee from Melbourne. An absolute must-try for chocoholics is the popular Death by Chocolate ($13.90) – chocolate sorbet with brownie chunks and chocolate streusels, topped with chocolate-flavoured espresso. If you’re feeling peckish, the café also serves salads and freshly baked bagels. Go for the Breakfast Club ($12.90), a bagel sandwich with ham, cheddar, egg, mesclun mix and gruyère bechamel sauce – delish!

2. EGA Juice Clinic

Cluny court restaurants

Located right next door to The Affogato Bar is EGA Juice Clinic, a concept store offering fresh cold-pressed juices, immunity boosting shots, and other healthy beverages. Don’t leave without trying the turmeric latte ($9.50), a stress-relieving concoction made with cold brew coffee, turmeric, ginger, coconut sugar, cinnamon, cardamom, black pepper and almond milk. Looking for a juice cleanse? Packages start from $90 a day for six bottles of juice.

3. Bar Bar Black Sheep

Cluny court restaurants

Not sure if you’re in the mood for Thai, Indian, American or local dishes? No problem. This restaurant-bar – the largest Bar Bar outlet on the island – serves it all. Order a cocktail, a glass of bubbly or a good ol’ pint and watch the world go by in the alfresco dining area – we can’t think of a better way to unwind!

4. Da Paolo Gastronomia

Cluny court restaurants

This popular bistro serves homemade pasta, salads, pizzas and sandwiches, alongside sweet treats like pastries, cakes and a signature tiramisu. Apart from hot meals, the chain also stocks a select range of imported gourmet groceries that’ll make the perfect addition for your next gathering.

5. Relish by Wild Rocket

Cluny court restaurants

This casual, family friendly restaurant specialises in handmade gourmet burgers, pastas and brunch fare, and boasts an extensive beverage menu. If you’re visiting for breakfast, check out the affordable, daily breakfast set, which gets you coffee, eggs and toast for $8.90. There’s also a kids’ menu with yummy mains like meatball spaghetti ($13.50).

#02-01

6. Simply Bread

Best known for its large loaves and sticky cinnamon buns, this cosy bakery also serves freshly made sandwiches and coffee. It’s a great pit-stop for a post-shop catch-up with some girlfriends!

#02-07

7. Plain Vanilla

Cluny court restaurants

Satisfy your sweet tooth with this home-grown bakery’s freshly baked cupcakes ($3.90 each); popular picks include carrot, milk chocolate banana and red velvet. Then, grab a latte ($5) for your much-needed caffeine fix, or snack on the daily selection of salads.

#01-03A

Gourmet Grocer

For fresh, sustainable seafood and meat, check out The Fishwives (#01-05B), which sources and imports directly from farmers in Australia and New Zealand. The best-seller here is fresh New Zealand king salmon, but you’ll also find a wide range of gourmet products including cheeses, artisanal snacks and Baker & Cook loaves, too.

This year we say farewell to one of Singapore’s iconic structures, with the Sentosa Merlion ceasing operations in late October. Here are some facts and figures about the huge sculpture. 25 - It's age; the Merlion was built in 1995, designed and sculpted by Australian artist James Martin. 37 - Metres in Height. The huge structure included two observation decks – one at the mouth and one at the top of the head. 320 - Scales on the Merlion, each shaped like an octagon, or the Taoist bagua symbol. 4 - The number of teeth, thought to represent Singapore’s four ethnic groups – Malay, Chinese, Indian and Eurasia. 6 - Remaining number of Merlions in Singapore (including a pair of 3m Merlion statues on Mount Faber, along with the famous 8.6m original statue at Merlion Park). 90 - Cost, in millions of dollars, of the new “Sentosa Sensoryscape” project that will take over the Merlion’s spot, including a linkway between Resorts World Sentosa and the beaches to the south.

Melinda heads to a wet market! (Full video on IGTV Or YouTube) Did you know: The term “wet markets” came into common usage in the early 1970s when the Singapore government used the term to distinguish these markets from air-conditioned “supermarkets” that had become popular with the opening of Fitzpatrick’s supermarket in Orchard Road in 1958.
Singapore Slings are an iconic part of the Lion City’s history since 1915. But which one is best? Watch (swipe) and find out if the one where they all began is tops. Watch the full video on IGTV or our YouTube! Did you know it was illegal for women to drink alcohol then? The creator Ngiam Tong Boon created the Sling so women could hide the fact that they were drinking in public. #singaporesling #expatliving #reviewcrew #igsg #longbar @raffleshotelsingapore
