This hair mask reduces frizz in just 4 minutes!

19th July 2021 by Anthia Chng 3 Min Read

https://expatliving.sg/best-hair-treatment-mask-for-damaged-bleached-hair/

Damaged hair – bleached, dyed, coloured, permed, or straightened – is often rough, dry, and frizzy. We’re always looking for the best hair treatment to undo all that damage – who doesn’t want luscious, shiny and healthy hair? There are many great anti-frizz and hair smoothing options (like Olaplex and keratin treatments) out there that can be done at the salon. But if you don’t have the time or don’t want to spend a fortune, here’s one that you can regularly do at home to de-frizz and strengthen your hair!

K18 Biomimetic Hairscience is a peptide treatment that helps to reverse damage in just four minutes. In fact, the treatment promises to restore damaged hair to a near virgin-like state! Currently, there are three products in the line: a leave-in mask for at-home use, a professional-grade mask for a standalone or post-service treatment at the salon, and a hair mist to strengthen the hair before a chemical service.

How it works

Unlike many hair repairing treatments like Olaplex, K18 hair products are leave-in and do not require washing. Hence, the benefits are longer lasting as there’s no need to rinse it out.

The star ingredient of this magic formula is a special molecule, K18Peptide, which carries amino acids into the cortex of hair to reconnect keratin chains and reform disulfide bonds. This restores damaged strands back to their original, youthful state. Patented after a decade of testing, the treatment strengthens and improves elasticity while reversing damage from chemical services, as well as thermal and mechanical styling. It’s also suitable for all hair types, so even if you don’t have damaged or bleached hair, it works as a great anti-frizz treatment to smoothen and hydrate your locks.

Based on a clinical study using the mist and mask as part of a bleaching service, the treatment restored hair to 91 percent of its original strength and 94 percent of its original elasticity. As the formula uses amino acids that deliver keratin protein (naturally found in hair strands), the product can penetrate into the outer layer of the hair to treat and repair damaged cuticles. All you have to do is apply a pump from ends to roots after washing your hair, and leave it in for four minutes before styling to enjoy the benefits of smoother and stronger hair.

Our reviews of K18 Leave-in Hair Mask

“Whether it’s swimming pools or salon bleach, my hair is a constant victim of chemical abuse. Frequently dry, coarse and tangled, I recently cut off a dramatic four inches and turned to healthier habits and intensive treatment for a reset. K18 Biomimetic Hairscience came recommended as an at-home regime promising salon-standard results. The products aim to strengthen and improve elasticity while reversing damage from chemical services and thermal styling. The leave-in hair mask goes a long way; one pump applied to shampooed (strictly no conditioner!) and towel-dried hair is enough to cover my roots to tips. One month in, and it’s peculiar to think I haven’t touched my regular conditioner and yet, my hair feels thicker and stronger. ” – Leanda Rathmell

“Having naturally dark tresses means I often have to go through multiple rounds of bleaching to achieve my dream hair colour. I’ve turned to popular hair treatments like Olaplex to combat some of the damage, but found that the smoothening effects don’t last as long as I wished. After diligently using the K18 leave-in hair mask for a month, I’m happy to report that my bleached hair feels progressively smoother and stronger to the touch. Even my husband commented that my hair looks slightly thicker than usual! All it takes is four minutes to activate and the results are almost immediate, which is amazing. Best part: there’s no need to wash it out so I can sleep in it! This hair mask is officially a must-have in my haircare regime.” – Anthia Chng

The line-up

“My hair is fine, frizzy and I have a lot of it. I love overnight hair masks, but unfortunately most leave-in hair treatments tend to make the roots greasy and the hair hard to style. The first time, I used two pumps of product (ignoring the on-pack instructions) and it was too much. The second time I used one pump and it was much better. After washing, I towel-dried, and then worked the product through to the ends. After the third wash, I only applied it from the ends almost to the roots, and I could get another day or two without washing. It feels thicker and stronger after five treatments, and I am loving not spending a lot of time on additional products to get going each morning.” – Danielle Rossetti
