Skills studios at OWIS Punggol
The skills studios at OWIS Punggol are designed to inspire student development and provide students with the space and resources to explore their interests, develop new skills, and engage in hands-on learning experiences. These studios offer a safe and supportive environment where students can freely experiment, take risks and discover their hidden talents.
Here are some of the recent activities happening at our skills studios:
Science Labs and Makerspace Studio
Our science laboratories at OWIS Punggol are designed to hone the skills of the engineers and scientists of tomorrow. Our Grade 3 students, for example, recently explored the human body in our Biology Lab, using 3D models and even observing a real neuron under a microscope! They then presented their findings to their peers, combining science with teamwork and presentation skills.
OWIS Punggol’s Primary students also have the opportunity to engage in discovering the wonders of STEAM. In the Makerspace studio set up for just this purpose, students can explore using the 3D printer to make intriguing creations, among other exciting equipment.
These spaces encourage experimentation, collaboration, and the development of essential skills like research, prototyping and critical thinking.
Quantum Arena and Black Box Theatre
The Quantum Arena at OWIS Punggol provides students with a platform to express themselves creatively through music, dance, drama and visual arts.
In June, we conducted our “OWIS Has Talent” show at this cutting-edge performing venue, with students of all ages showcasing their skills through performances ranging from traditional Indonesian dance to singing and rapping.
The Black Box Theatre provides another venue within the state-of-the-art campus to host not only drama classes and smaller performances, but also key seminars and panel discussions. These include the ‘Future-Ready Singapore: Unlocking Innovation and Sustainability’ event by Eurocham.
Sports facilities at OWIS Punggol
At OWIS Punggol, we believe that a healthy body and mind go hand-in-hand. We encourage a healthy and active lifestyle through our impressive array of sports facilities, designed to cater to various interests and abilities.
Participation in sports not only promotes physical fitness but also instils valuable life skills such as teamwork, discipline, and resilience. Our dedicated sports coaching staff provides a supportive environment for student-athletes to succeed, hone their skills, and reach their full potential, both on and off the field.
The sports facilities at OWIS Punggol include a running and sprint track, basketball courts, and an open field for team sports like football and cricket. There’s also an indoor sports hall for badminton and other indoor games.
Some recent sporting activities at our Punggol Campus include our very first OWIS Sports Day. Making use of the extensive indoor sports hall and field on campus, students, parents and teachers competed in races, nerf javelin throws, long jumps and even a tug-of-war where the parents emerged victorious.
Our ACSIS sports teams have been training with our expert coaches within our campus and have been making their mark at inter-school competitions. Our U12 boys and U14 girls badminton and cross-country teams have been doing particularly well this recent season.
