Mosaic Preschool offers various activities for kids aged from three to four years old to get involved in. Parent involvement is also encouraged, with mums and dads participating in a range of preschool activities, whether it’s at the campus, on excursions or through extended learning at home. Here, two families share their experiences.
Preschool activity with parent involvement – an MRT joyride
At the end of every term at Mosaic Preschool, children embark on an inquiry project centred around their interests. In March, they decided to explore the topic of trains. This preschool activity helped them get to know more about Singapore’s Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system.
While visiting an MRT station with teachers and parents, the children asked if they could go somewhere on the train. They began planning for a trip to Gardens by the Bay. They began by studying the system map to figure out which line to take. Then they counted the number of stops before they had to alight.
With preparations in place, the children led the way to the platform. Once on the train, they listened for the station names at each stop, and everyone successfully got off at the right place! A picnic at the nearby Marina Barrage rounded off their first MRT adventure.
Parent involvement on the trip helped ensure the safety of the children as the little ones navigated the journey.
Hear from a parent about this Mosaic Preschool activity…
“My favourite part about this Mosaic Preschool activity was seeing Viola interact with her peers and performing confidently. After this, I know who is who – I can ask her more about her friends and about the school routine.” – Alice Spanu, parent of Viola (3.5)
Seeing the results of Mandarin language learning at home
Mosaic Preschool’s bilingual English-Mandarin curriculum is taught by highly trained educators. They use fun engagements to empower children to explore, discover, create and learn.
Chinese is introduced through play and daily activities for kids, including sports, games and water play outdoors. The preschool activities happen in an environment that supports both unstructured and structured learning.
Hear from a Mosaic Preschool parent…
“Although Isaiah is still at the early stages of language development, we’ve noticed that he perks up when he hears familiar sounds. He also seems to recognise the rhythm and tone of the language. This shows us that he’s absorbing it even if he isn’t speaking it just yet.
“There was a moment at home when he was flipping through one of his picture books and pointing at some images. While he didn’t say the words, it was clear he connected those visuals with something he had experienced in Chinese class at Mosaic Preschool. It’s a small but meaningful sign that the exposure is making an impression.
“We really appreciate the school’s gentle, immersive approach. The teachers create a nurturing environment without pressure. It allows children to become familiar and comfortable with the language at their own pace, building a strong and positive foundation for future learning.” – Bryan and Charissa, parents of Isaiah (3)
