Why you need to visit this Holland Village home décor store

Sometimes all it takes is a striking rug, stylish cushion (or three), or a unique piece of home décor, to really ramp up a room’s look. The Cinnamon Room, set up by Visha Nelson almost four years ago, is a Holland Village gem worth a visit. The aesthetics on offer are wide and varied, and its price range should suit most pockets – here are just five reasons to pay it a visit.

Rugs for the Home

Monochromatic, neutral rugs work well within a traditional room setting

The unique hide rugs you immediately spot in store also happen to be its bestsellers. From monochrome to neutral, bright pink to union jack designs, they come in all sorts of shapes and, although they are generally available in four standard sizes, each can be customised according to an individual’s needs as well. Visha works with clients, advising on what design and size might work with the space they have in mind. Customers can also try out a few designs in their home, in situ, to make sure the tones and sizes work before committing to the purchase.

One common misconception is that hide rugs are hard to clean, says Visha. “It’s actually the opposite, as you can smear them with food, drop mud, red wine or coffee on them, and you can easily wipe it off, which makes them very family and pet friendly.”

Home Lighting

Visha’s in-house designed table lamps

We’re not just talking about sidelights, but lanterns, tea lights and table centerpieces too – The Cinnamon Room’s got lighting covered. From its range of handmade, geometric designed, laser cut lanterns in powder coated metal with faux leather handles, to the warmly coloured twinkling tea lights, there are plenty of ways to add ambience with lights here.

Visha also recently added a range of in house designed contemporary table lamps in different materials including etched glass, marble and gold and silver finishes. Although each comes with a lampshade, these can also be customised in a variety of different fabrics.

Decorative Dishes

A relative newcomer to Visha’s showroom is her collection of brightly coloured, decorative bowls and trays, again all designed in house. These feature an aluminium base with enamel finish, and in The Cinnamon Room’s signature geometric designs. A keen host at home, Visha’s aim was to design a unique and vibrant range of platters and bowls that would make home entertaining even more stylish.

Home Services

Visha can help pull together a comfortable home space for a client

Although emphatic she’s not an interior designer, Visha does offer clients a home consultation styling service, where she helps them achieve the right look and feel for a space. Never imposing her own particular aesthetics on a client, she strives to find a style that suits their character. “My aim is to achieve a beautiful and comfortable space that is for them to feel good in.”

Mind Matters

The showroom hosts plenty of wellbeing events too

Visha’s showroom isn’t just about shopping for the home, but also wellbeing for the mind. She holds a free weekly breath meditation session every Thursday morning at 9.30am, in conjunction with Dawn of Gaia, as well as wellbeing events held in the showroom on an ongoing basis. For Visha, having a showroom that offers customers a sense of wellbeing as well as a place to come and feel inspired, is key.

If you are planning to visit, be sure to check opening times. It’s not open on Sunday, Monday or Public Holidays, and its weekly hours may sometimes vary.
