We chat with its founder, Singapore-based Norwegian CATHRINE ALEXANDRA TANDBERG, to find out more.
Where are you from and what brought you to Singapore?
I hail from the beautiful landscapes of Norway! My journey to Singapore began as a teenager when I accompanied my father on a work trip to Kuala Lumpur. The moment I set foot in Asia, I was captivated by its vibrant culture and energy. That spark never dimmed, leading me here to make Singapore my home.
You’ve been working in the hair and beauty industry for almost 30 years. How did you get into it?
My passion for the beauty industry ignited when I started modelling for hair colour at a young age. At just 14, I took on a role as a salon receptionist and assistant on weekends. Although I initially envisioned a career in music, I quickly discovered my flair for the beauty business. I immersed myself in learning the art of colour and shape, which led me to study art and eventually pursue hairdressing at a private school.
What truly drives me is helping others discover their potential and being that spark of joy in their lives. I’m incredibly grateful to be a part of their journeys, just as they are part of mine!
Tell us more about your hair and beauty salon, The Blonde Tourage on Club Street.
The Blonde Tourage is all about hair transformations that celebrate individuality. We focus on fabulous blonde and “bronde” (a blend of blonde and brown) hair shades, which have become a universal favourite among our clients, regardless of background. We pride ourselves on catering to all hair types and offer a range of treatments designed to restore, smooth and strengthen your locks.
Our carefully crafted haircuts create that perfect frame for your face, ensuring you leave with low maintenance, high quality hair that boosts your confidence with every step!

In addition to hair, our hair and beauty salon specialises in makeup for events, weddings, or simply creating an everyday look that suits your style. For those who prefer a low-maintenance beauty routine, our brow and lash tinting and shaping services provide a lovely natural enhancement. We also offer manicures and BIAB (or builder-in-a-bottle, an overlay strengthening gel-like polish) treatments, making us a one-stop shop for a fabulous glow-up.
We’ve newly taken over the second floor and are now opening a sister company that does medical aesthetics as well, for the ultimate glow-up if that’s needed. So, keep your eyes peeled!
What’s your secret to achieving the perfect blonde or “bronde”?
I firmly believe that seamless blending is crucial for achieving stunning blonde and “bronde” hair looks. Using safe products like Epres, Olaplex and K18 is essential, along with a pH neutraliser to balance your hair and achieve the perfect tone, whether you’re going for warm, cool or just a glossy finish. At our hair and beauty salon, our goal is to help you shine with the right shades that complement your skin tone, regardless of whether you’re rocking dark or blonde hair.
How have you found working in Singapore? What do you love most about what you do, and what has been challenging?
Singapore is a wonderful place to establish a business, and I’ve found the process relatively smooth. While costs like rent and product sourcing can be a challenge, the favourable tax environment is definitely a plus. My biggest hurdle has been hiring, as we strive to build a talented team at The Blonde Tourage. However, I’m fortunate to have a wonderful crew by my side, and I’m excited about growing together!
Do you have any tips for anyone looking for a hair refresh in 2026?
I encourage everyone to come in for a consultation so we can identify your seasonal tones and find the perfect look for you. I do love an easy-maintenance blonde balayage paired with a bouncy blowout or a rich chocolate hue hair colour. Or if you want to stand out this season, consider a fresh toner!
Tell us about life in Singapore when you’re not working. What do you get up to?
When I get some free time, I enjoy exploring the incredible food scene and soaking up nature. I love the beach, and I can’t resist a stroll down Orchard Road, especially with all the different festive decorations. I always have my place decked out months prior!
What are some of your favourite spots around Singapore?
I’m a fan of COTE Korean Steakhouse for its ambience and great music on Friday nights. The Norwegian restaurant Dill holds a special place in my heart with its fantastic service and a taste of home. And, of course, I can’t resist a dance at The Green Door just around the corner!
What is your vision for The Blonde Tourage?
