Peacock Power: Beauty and Symbolism Across Cultures
5 November, 2025 - 30 August, 2026

Singapore’s Peranakan Museum’s latest exhibition, Peacock Power: Beauty and Symbolism Across Cultures, is a celebration of Singapore’s 60th anniversary of independence. Running until 30 August 2026, the exhibition will explore how the peacock, a timeless symbol of beauty, power, and divinity, has inspired art across Asia and travelled between cultures.
With Peranakan art as an entry point, the exhibition will showcase over 100 treasures from the National Collection and key lenders, tracing how the peacock motif connects regions and communities through shared expressions of craftsmanship and belief.
Beyond these vibrant displays spanning ceramics to textiles, visitors can also immerse themselves in an experiential zone that brings the world of the peacock to life through holographic technology, as well as interactive stations and a variety of programmes. The exhibition will also include a presentation of a newly commissioned work, Thousand Eyes by artist Ernest Goh, which links the “thousand eyes” of a peacock’s tail to fallen leaves as sacred vessels.
