Escapes: Top Singapore Staycations

20th August 2020 by Lindsay Yap 12 Min Read

https://expatliving.sg/best-places-staycation-hotels-singapore-great-travel-getaways/

We know it’s been a long time having to look at those walls at home and the same view out the window. It’s definitely time for a STAYCATION! You can stay a night or two (with or without the kids), hang out in the fab rooms and order room service. There are many great staycations at top hotels in Singapore to enjoy for the pool, the view and maybe to explore parts of the island that are nearby. Check out these awesome options – as they say, “a change is as good as a holiday”!

The St. Regis Singapore

Situated in the exclusive downtown and embassy quarter, The St. Regis Singapore is within walking distance of Singapore Botanic Gardens, the city’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site. The luxury property has a myriad of amenities, dining and wellness offerings, including the award-winning Remède Spa and a 24-hour fitness centre that overlooks an outdoor tropical pool. At Remède Spa, treat yourself to pampering treatments and enjoy facilities such as the aqua reflexology footpath, eucalyptus scented steam chambers and outdoor spa garden. The spa also houses the Pedi:Mani:Cure Studio by French podiatrist Bastien Gonzalez. Dining-wise, guests can look forward to contemporary French cuisine at Brasserie Les Saveurs, refined Cantonese classics at Yan Ting and English treats at The Drawing Room. During your stay, you’ll also enjoy bespoke service by your St. Regis butler.

The hotel has launched a special Stay & Dine package. It comes with breakfast for two, $50 dining credits per stay (excluding Shinji by Kanesaka) and the property’s signature St. Regis butler service. It is valid for stays until 1 November 2021.

The Vagabond Club

Located between the bustling heritage districts of Little India and Kampong Glam, The Vagabond Club is a gorgeously designed boutique hotel that’s well worth checking out. There are a variety of luxurious rooms to suit different needs and budgets, from courtyard rooms to luxury club suites. Rooms are decorated in Parisian-chic, with elegant dark wood furniture and unique artwork, so no two rooms are exactly alike. You can expect a good night’s sleep as the hotel’s beds come with comfy Egyptian cotton sheets, plush goose down pillows and comforters. All guests are also entitled to a complimentary tour of the artwork around The Vagabond Club, which have been collected from all over the world.

While staying here, it’s a good opportunity to explore the surrounding neighbourhoods. (Pick up one of the self-guided heritage walking tour maps from the concierge.) Those who love their drinks will want to spend their time at the Whiskey Library, Vagabond’s whiskey bar. It has as many as 1,000 different kinds of whiskey to try (not all at once!) and is open until 2am daily (normal operations). Club guests can also spend time in The Vagabond Executive Club Lounge, which serves light bites, wines and cheeses as well as gins and whiskeys.

Duxton Reserve

Housed along a row of heritage shophouses in vibrant Tanjong Pagar, Duxton Reserve features an elegant mix of Chinese, Malay and European elements. The bustling neighbourhood is filled with dining and nightlife for an entertaining staycation. Designed by famed British designer Anouska Hempel, the hotel lobby is beautifully decorated with hues of black, yellow and gold as well as oriental screens and calligraphy wallpaper. The property also has an exclusive feel – there are just 49 rooms, including suites and even a club duplex. Guest rooms and suites come with a host of amenities for a comfortable stay, such as Naturalmat organic mattresses, organic cotton bed linen from Beaumont & Brown and bathroom amenities by Etro.

Dining at in-house restaurant Yellow Pot is a pleasure, too. The modern Chinese establishment operates with a “clean eating” philosophy, avoiding MSG, additives and artificial flavourings in its dishes. A must-try is the roast duck, which is marinated in fermented beancurd paste for two days and roasted over hickory wood. After your meal, head to Anouska’s Bar, which serves a variety of wines, spirits, craft beers and cocktails.

The refurbished rooms and suites are super comfy, with all the amenities you could need. Once you’ve settled in, enjoy a dip in the outdoor pool or go for a workout at the fitness centre. Hungry?
