Where can I buy customised furniture?

22nd June 2020 by Rebecca Bisset 5 Min Read

https://expatliving.sg/where-to-buy-customised-furniture-stores-singapore/

Sometimes an off-the-shelf piece of furniture won’t work for your needs or fit the dimensions of your apartment in Singapore. Don’t make do with what you can find, get something custom-made instead. It could be a regular item made to perfectly fit with your room and existing décor, or something out of the ordinary. These experienced furniture stores can make customised furniture to suit your preferred size, style, materials, shape and colours.

Originals

The team at Originals want customers to have the tools to create homes that are not only good to look at but are fun, comfortable and functional to live in too. Their collections will allow you to put your own unique stamp on your home through both off-the-shelf and customised furniture too.

originals customised furniture

They have an ever-growing sofa collection and recently introduced customisation options on some of their designs. From modular sofa designs to compact two seaters there are options for you to configure a sofa that would best suit your space. It helps make the very best of small areas or unusual layouts. You’ll be spoilt for choice with their range of high-quality linens and hard-wearing polyester fabrics.

Woody Antique House

Not only is this store a must-see at Dempsey, the lovely team at Woody Antique House can customise furniture from a variety of different timbers such as elm, recycled teak and Burmese teak. All you need to do is bring a drawing or picture of what you would like – or you can even choose to alter an existing piece from their showroom.

customised coffee table

Over the past 20 years, the store has had a number of unusual requests: a solid teak plaque for the Singapore Army, for example; a pair of sword stands for a private collector; cabinets to conceal a washing machine and a safe; and matching cabinets for dolls!

The store’s customised bed frames are among the most requested items. They can be made in any size – especially helpful as off-the-shelf frames in Singapore often don’t fit mattresses of an international size. One happy customer ordered two customised daybeds with a unique lattice design and later, a customised half-moon table for our lobby and a made-to-order shoe cupboard.

Gallery 278 by Esco Leasing

Gallery 278 specialises in quality, bespoke custom-built pieces crafted by hand, and with wood sourced from renewable origins. That means the forests and plantations are farmed with strict ecological management. The company supports the Tree4Tree programme that grows another tree for each one that is cut down for furniture. This means future generations will have access to the same resources that we do.

Upholstery

Recently, the European Union Ambassador came to Gallery 278 to request a dining table that could seat 10 people, and be extendable to seat 20! It was designed here in Singapore by the team and assembled on site at the European Commission Residence.

They are well-known for sofas with generous depth seating and feather-filled back cushions. You can choose your preferred back height, the number of back cushions, seat density, seating depth, the width of the armrest and different leg heights to your specifications. The store’s re-upholstery services can provide new covers for your sofa or custom pillows too!

Hacienda Blue

Hacienda Blue has been custom-making striking pieces of bone inlay and mother-of-pearl furniture since 2009, designing them to complement modern, contemporary and traditional décor.

CUSTOMISED DRAWERS

The team are specialists in combining this traditional craft with modern designs; so you can be as creative and specific on colour, pattern and dimensions as you like. They can work on customised full-wall bookshelves covered in bone inlay, to beautiful bed canopies and intricately designed chests of drawers with mother-of-pearl etched into aged teak frames.

Frequently, they’re asked to customise chests of drawers and sideboards. With the limited storage space available in many homes, these pieces are always useful and easy for Hacienda Blue to customise.

WTP – The Furniture Company

Customisation of upholstery pieces such as sofas, armchairs, upholstered dining chairs and beds are a key part of how WTP can make items to suit you. Choose from an extensive fabric library that includes stain-resistant fabrics as well as embroidered fabrics in a range of colours. They’re also the exclusive carrier of Lotus Homes fabrics in Singapore. Tie it in to your choice of curtains, cushions and other soft furnishings to complete the look. WTP can also work with metal and marble or marble and wood combinations for pieces like coffee tables and side tables. Upholstered bedframes have also become a frequently requested item of the store.

The customisation process can take anywhere from 15 minutes to several hours. It just depends on the scope of the design, as well as your decision-making prowess. The most unusual piece of customised furniture the WTP team has been asked to create? A cat house that doubled as a shoe cabinet! So, they really can make bespoke furniture for anyone.

Retro Dec

Have you found a piece of wooden furniture that you love but it’s really not the right colour for the rest of your home décor? Or do you already have a piece that you love but it’s looking kind of grotty? Or perhaps the varnish or paint has chipped? Home-painting company Retro Dec has grown from refurbishing buildings into furniture restoration and interior styling. Whitewashing a piece or stripping back the old colour or varnish will transform your wooden furniture without smothering the grain.

customised furniture

Whitewashed pieces can be integrated into many different styles, useful for both indoor and outdoor settings. Another popular on-trend service offered by Retro Dec is distressing. This is when furniture is intentionally restored to give it a lived-in look and feel. The rustic and vintage look can soften a new piece whose design you really like but which has been varnished or painted too strongly.

So, if you have any pieces that need some resuscitation, the team at Retro Dec are at the ready with a little “CPR” – colour, polish and restore!

Get in touch by visiting retro-dec.com. You can also WhatsApp them at 9823 1248.

Arete Culture

The in-house line of customisable furniture by Arete Culture Outdoors & Bespoke is made or finished in Singapore by their dedicated carpenters. Frustrated by traditional lead times of 6-8 weeks, they have put together a collection of furniture pieces aimed at delivering quality pieces within just 3 weeks of order confirmation.

Materials and finish can range from solid teak, oak and walnut wood to powder-coated stainless steel, glass, tile, and marble. All pieces can be made-to-order to your colour and size choices.

customised furniture

Make full use of your space by customising a console for that oddly shaped room or turn an irregularly shaped corner into a fully functional storage area with a customised unit.

Now facelifts can be non-surgical and non-invasive which we love.

This facelift in Singapore uses painless High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU).

How it works.....
HIFU uses ultrasound technology to reach three different depths of the skin, in order to deliver focused beams of 60 to 70 degrees Celsius without disrupting the skin surface. These beams will melt the fats in the face, while tightening the skin and boosting collagen production; this allows your skin to continually lift and tone after the treatment.

We thought this was super cool so we tried it out. Read the full review on our stories
