What’s in her wardrobe: Camilla Testori shares her style secrets

Ever walked past a woman who looks enviously chic at an event or on the street and wondered how she puts herself together so effortlessly? Yep – we hear you, which is why we track down women in Singapore with on-point style every month to tell us just how they do it, despite juggling multiple commitments. This month, we spoke to the fashion director of StyleTribute, Camilla Testori, who gives the low-down on her lifestyle and fashion sense.

Her daily routine…

I have to say that the word “routine” doesn’t really exist in my vocabulary – I seem to be allergic to it! My mornings tend to be similar, though: picking up an iced coffee from the food court, then heading upstairs to the office and transforming it into a wonderful “latte macchiato all-Italiana” which reminds me of home (easy to do by adding milk, cacao powder and sugar!); then from 10am it’s all hands on deck, and my day is divided between fashion shooting, shows, events, meetings with partners and more.

Her dress code…

At the office, I’m smart-casual with a touch of elegance. We have to move stock and boxes of garments around, so I wear something comfy to stay productive. Outside the office, I dress more stylishly. I love to combine long, feminine skirts with boyish tops, and I never like to look too corporate! My uniform for photo shoots is a pair of Cheap Monday skinny distressed jeans, a soft grey T by Alexander Wang, my vintage leather braces (a gift from my father – they bring me luck) and some Repetto black ballerinas or my favourite Golden Goose sneakers.

Her personal style…

A new day for me means new inspirations and challenges, and I get up every day wanting to express that to the world. I’ve noticed I often start my week in “rock-star” mode with black, leather and studs, while Wednesdays to Fridays I dress more hippie and feminine, filled with positive energy that the weekend is arriving!

Her fashion sense…

I love to express myself through the way I look, and I’m fascinated by the history of fashion through the decades. Although I don’t follow trends, I do find I have an orientation towards eighties style – my icons are David Bowie and Madonna (and also Brigitte Bardot). I’m really into shoulder pads, cinched waists, leggings and ankle-boots, and like to play with layers of colours and animal prints. I’m also a huge fan of hats and accessories – especially gloves when the weather permits.

Her wardrobe staples…

T by Alexander Wang, Acne Studio or MM6 for basics – each uses amazing fabric and high-quality cotton or linen. Dolce & Gabbana for feminine dresses – it always makes me think of warm Sicilian summers. Balmain for fab leather jackets and sheath dresses – very sexy biker-chic. Giorgio Armani for classic pieces (and I like Armani for boyish cuts that suit my figure). Missoni and Pucci for great beachwear – I love how they play with colours, stripes and prints. Finally, La Perla for underwear and Prada for bags (masterfully crafted and the leather is sure to last you a lifetime!).

Where she shops…

I don’t like shopping malls, and all of the promotional signs that make me feel like I’m in a giant supermarket! It’s a far cry from the Avenue des Champs-Élysées or elegant Bond Street! What has really saved me time and money is shopping online at styletribute.com, so I can buy all my favourite designer pieces at discounted prices.
