It’s that time of year again: the tinsel is up and Michael Bublé’s Christmas ballads are blaring in the office. Find out what the EL staff have in store for the holidays!

Plans for the holidays? We’re in Singapore this year so my mother is coming from Australia to help celebrate. I am really looking forward to not rushing around shopping in Singapore, packing all the gifts, travelling with heavy bags, unpacking and wrapping when we arrive, then working out how to carry everything back again!
What’s on your Santa wish list? I have a few online purchases which will hopefully be wrapped and placed under the tree from my lovely family…
Favourite festive film? Every New Year’s Eve, we watch Dinner for One, a 1963 black-and-white sketch comedy that never ceases to make me laugh out loud!
Any unusual family traditions? We always put out reindeer food (oatmeal and glitter to sparkle in the moonlight) on Christmas Eve so Santa can find us.
One dinner guest (dead or alive), who and why? Santa Claus of course, to find out how he does it!
Resolution for 2020? This is the year I am going to get my back and knees strong, so I can hopefully continue to get fit without injury

Plans for the holidays? We’re having Christmas with family in England this year, then heading to Norway for our first-ever family cruise through the fjords (hopefully we’ll catch the northern lights!). We’ll also be staying in a snow hotel and trying our hand at dog sledding. We’re all very excited!
What’s on your Santa wish list? Snow on Christmas Day. My daughter has never experienced it and it’s on her wish list every year. Favourite festive film and food? A Christmas Carol, the classic story of Scrooge based on the Charles Dickens novel. We’ve watched it every year without fail. My favourite food is traditional Christmas dinner with all the trimmings.
Any unusual family traditions? A beer in the ocean on Christmas morning. Not unusual to the Aussies, of course, but definitely unusual to us Brits!
One dinner guest (dead or alive), who and why? David Attenborough. I think he’s led an incredible life and would have so many fascinating and funny stories to tell. He’s also pretty charming!
Resolution for 2020? The usual one on my list – more exercise, less chocolate.
Susan – Brand Partnership & Event Manager
Plans for the holidays? Heading to Sydney.
What’s on your Santa wish list? A Forbidden Hill bracelet. (James, I hope you’re reading this!)
Favourite festive food? Danish Christmas treats like Pebernodder (small cookies) and Æbleskiver (pancake balls). Any unusual family traditions? In Denmark, we dance around the Christmas tree and sing Danish Christmas songs!
One dinner guest (dead or alive), who and why? My dad and my husband’s dad, because they never met and both loved Christmas and celebrating the holidays with their families. Unfortunately, both are no longer with us.
Resolution for 2020? To lose 5kg again (that was last year’s resolution that never happened!).

Plans for the holidays? Lots of family time, and we’re going out for Christmas Day lunch instead of having someone spend all day in the kitchen!
What’s on your Santa wish list? Oh please, please Santa, send me 24 hours alone-time. Preferably in a five-star hotel with a spa!
Favourite festive film and food? I’m totally predictable, so it’s Love Actually; but I will literally cry at anything during Christmas (okay, not just during Christmas!). I love mince pies. My Australian husband is freaked out that a pie can have a sweet filling, but I can’t get enough of them and buy them as soon as they come out in the shops!
Any unusual family traditions? When I first moved out of home, my mum gave me a gorgeous Christmas decoration for my first year away. We’ve continued this tradition across the miles by posting a luxe decoration to each other at the start of December. I love looking at the Wedgwood, Royal Doulton and other special decorations as I decorate my tree every year. I also do it with my mother-in-law now too.
One dinner guest (dead or alive), who and why? My Nan. She passed when I was a teenager and I always felt that I didn’t have enough time with her.
Resolution for 2020? To live more mindfully.

Plans for the holidays? A family road trip in New Zealand.
What’s on your Santa wishlist? To visit the Santa Claus Village in Finland!
Favourite festive film and food? Film: Home Alone 2: Lost in New York – it’s a classic! Food: I love most Christmas treats, but if I had to choose, baked ham with cranberry sauce.
One dinner guest (dead or alive), who and why? I’d like to have Kenny G over so I can have a personal Christmas concert after dinner.
Resolution for 2020? To count my blessings and be more adventurous.
Leanda – Client Services & Production Manager
Plans for the holidays? Two weeks in Bonnie Scotland!
What’s on your Santa wish list? A furry companion!
Favourite festive film and food? Any of Peter Rogers’ Carry On films – they always remind me of Christmas with my grandparents in Yorkshire. And, speaking of Yorkshire: a tasty roast and Yorkshire puddings, of course!
Any unusual family traditions? Since I’ll be joining my boyfriend’s family this Christmas, I’ll be partaking in the annual family tradition of jumping off the pier into the freezing ocean on New Year morning!
One dinner guest (dead or alive), who and why? Lee Kuan Yew – the man fascinates me.
One Resolution for 2020? More volunteer work!
Shamus – Group Editor
Plans for the holidays? I’ll be in Australia: beach, beer, read a book, repeat.
What’s on your Santa wish list? Well, I suffered a “busted plugger” over the weekend, so a new pair of thongs would be good. But I don’t think there’s much room left on Santa’s list now that my two girls have added their essays to it.
Favourite festive film? No time to watch any films over Christmas because the cricket is on the telly all day and night. I miss the dulcet tones of legendary commentator Richie Benaud, but cricket is still the sound of summer for me.
Any unusual family traditions? We don’t go into the kitchen – it’s too hot to cook! Instead, we just eat fresh prawns and oysters off the ice in an Esky.
One dinner guest (dead or alive), who and why? Me. My wife keeps telling me I eat too quickly, so this would be a way of checking if it’s true.
Resolution for 2020? I plan to watch more cat videos on YouTube.
Michaela – Digital Content Executive
Plans for the holidays? Heading to Winnipeg with family! (Also known as Winterpeg for its minus-35- degrees-Celsius winters). Wish me luck!
What’s on your Santa wish list? Roller skates or Drunk Elephants’ Babyfacial (I’ve heard it’s amazing!).
Favourite festive food? The peppermint hot chocolate from Starbucks and literally anything covered in gravy.
Any unusual family traditions? We love to dress our dogs up in Santa/Elf outfits (don’t worry, they like it).
