Growing up, classrooms of children can normally be divided between wanting to be film stars, fairies or batman. You don’t get huge amounts of children who aim to be divers, massage therapists and funeral directors. But after reading these, perhaps the trick to landing Hollywood roles is aiming a tad lower and keeping it realistic. Check out the below to discover what these celebrities would have ended up doing had their movie careers not kicked off.
Not only has he had the pleasure of seeing Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in her birthday suit, but ‘The Transporter’ star was a member of Britain’s National Diving Squad for twelve years. If he hadn’t have made it in the world of acting, we might have seen him representing Great Britain at the Olympics! He wouldn’t have met Rosie though…
The Golden Globe winner and star of the hit show ‘Boardwalk Empire’ served as a fireman for four years before his acting career. After the 9/11 attacks, he volunteered at his old firehouse and worked twelve-hour shifts for a week. Steve still supports firefighters today, giving speeches to support higher wages for fireman.
Before he got into his acting, Craig worked in the kitchen of his local pub. Can you imagine James Bond chopping sprouts with old Viv up the local? Awesome. Daniel is still a keen cook to this day and has been credited by co-stars as the best cook on set.
This one isn’t much of a surprise, but John Travolta is a badass pilot! He owns five planes, including an ex-Qantas Boeing-707. His house has a runway next to it and some huge parking spaces for his jumbos. Not bad if you want a quick weekend away.
Having had a Catholic upbringing, Tom Cruise aspired to become a priest. Yes, the guy who is now one of the biggest supporters of Scientology. That’s Hollywood for you, folks.
With both parents in Hollywood, you’d have thought Jolie would always have fancied being a starlet. However, she once said she wanted to be a funeral director! She was 14 however, so you’d be forgiven for thinking she wasn’t mature enough to make a massive decision like wanting to prod corpses for a living.
Keanu Reeves could have gone on to have a great ice-hockey career. Known as ‘The Wall’, he was a goal-keeper for De La Salle college, but picked up a bad injury. He probably felt pretty gutted at the time, but he went on to become Neo, so it ain’t all bad.
The ‘Thelma and Louise’ star first had a go at archery in 1997. Two years later, she placed 24th out of 300 people attempting to qualify for the 2000 Sydney Olympics. She didn’t make it, but considering she’d only been doing it for two years, it was a great effort. If she’d started earlier, who knows who could have been Thelma.
Dempsey once said that if he could walk away from acting and focus on driving full-time, he would. Which is a bit odd, because he could if he actually wanted to. The Hollywood stud has raced at the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans twice, as well as owning a racing team – Dempsey Racing. No wonder women love this bloke.
At 17 years old, Nicole helped pay the family bills by becoming a massage therapist in Melbourne. Oh, what a lucky Aussie salon that would have been had she not landed her first show shortly afterwards.
