SUMMARY:Peacock Power: Beauty and Symbolism Across Cultures
DESCRIPTION:Singapore’s Peranakan Museum’s latest exhibition\, Peacock Power: Beauty and Symbolism Across Cultures\, is a celebration of Singapore’s 60th anniversary of independence. Running until 30 August 2026\, the exhibition will explore how the peacock\, a timeless symbol of beauty\, power\, and divinity\, has inspired art across Asia and travelled between cultures. \nWith Peranakan art as an entry point\, the exhibition will showcase over 100 treasures from the National Collection and key lenders\, tracing how the peacock motif connects regions and communities through shared expressions of craftsmanship and belief. \nBeyond these vibrant displays spanning ceramics to textiles\, visitors can also immerse themselves in an experiential zone that brings the world of the peacock to life through holographic technology\, as well as interactive stations and a variety of programmes. The exhibition will also include a presentation of a newly commissioned work\, Thousand Eyes by artist Ernest Goh\, which links the “thousand eyes” of a peacock’s tail to fallen leaves as sacred vessels.

SUMMARY:Ballet: The Making of an Étoile
DESCRIPTION:Educational and cultural organisation\, Alliance Française de Singapour\, proudly presents Ballet: The Making of an Étoile\, an immersive exhibition that offers a rare\, intimate look into the world behind the grace and glamour of the Paris Opera Ballet. Running from 29 May to 15 August 2026\, this marks the first curation by the Paris Opera Ballet ever presented outside of France\, revealing the demanding artistry that transforms aspiring dancers into ballet legends. \nThe exhibition follows the full arc of a dancer’s journey\, from their earliest lessons to commanding centre stage. Anchored by the legacy of the Paris Opera Ballet\, one of the world’s most prestigious ballet companies and custodian of the renowned French school of ballet\, the experience celebrates a tradition admired for its precision\, elegance\, and discipline. Visitors will discover the meticulous creative process behind each production\, from initial concept and choreography to costume creation and the final curtain call. \nThe journey towards Étoile\nCentral to the exhibition is the journey towards the coveted title of Étoile\, the highest rank a dancer can achieve at the Paris Opera Ballet. Meaning “star” in French\, an Étoile represents years of dedication\, resilience and artistic excellence and marks a dancer’s place among the company’s most exceptional performers. \n“Ballet is often admired only in its final\, polished form onstage\, but this exhibition pulls back the curtain to honour the years of training\, mentorship and quiet sacrifice that shape an Étoile\,” said Aude-Emeline Loriot-Nurbianto\, the Executive Director of Alliance Française de Singapour. “We invite audiences to witness the discipline\, craft and humanity behind each performance\, the true heart and labour that make every ballet performance possible\,” she continued. \nThe exhibition unfolds as a two-part narrative\, offering a complete view of a dancer’s world\, from the invisible moments of preparation to the radiance of performance. \nExhibition details \n\nDates: 29 May until 15 August\, 2026\nOpening hours: Tuesday to Friday\, 1pm to 7.30pm; Saturday 9am to 6pm\n\nAdmission is free to the Gallery at level two. Guided tours are available in English and French every Tuesday to Friday. Book your tour slot through the booking link. For more information on Ballet: The Making Of An Étolie\, please visit the official website.

SUMMARY:Zarina: Directions to My House
DESCRIPTION:STPI presents Zarina: Directions to My House\, a landmark solo exhibition of Zarina (1937–2020\, Aligarh\, India; London\, United Kingdom)\, one of the most significant printmakers of the late 20th and early 21st centuries and a key figure in minimalist and diasporic practice. This show will be the largest presentation of Zarina’s works in Southeast Asia. \nCurated by New York-based independent curator and Zarina’s former studio manager Sarah Burney \, Zarina: Directions to My House offers a deeply informed perspective on the artist’s life and work. This major exhibition brings together over 50 works from 12 lenders across multiple cities\, presenting her practice at a scale not previously seen in Southeast Asia and reflecting her life that was profoundly shaped by numerous continents – having lived across Bangkok\, New Delhi\, Paris\, Bonn\, Tokyo\, Santa Cruz\, and finally New York. \nThis Annual Special Exhibition delves further into Zarina’s pioneering work with print. Alongside the exhibition\, STPI will also present a series of public programmes inspired by Zarina’s work\, including activities centred on collagraphy\, cartography\, and poetry. \nThe exhibition runs from 6 June until 1 August. SUMMARY:Into the Ocean: Journey Beneath at ArtScience Museum
DESCRIPTION:Conceived as an “emersive” experience\, the exhibition positions visitors as active participants in a journey beneath the waves\, taking them into the ocean’s shifting environments before resurfacing with new understanding. \nAt the heart of the exhibition is extraordinary footage captured by OceanX\, a leading ocean exploration and media organisation whose work has featured in major international documentaries including Blue Planet II by the BBC and the recent OceanXplorers series produced with National Geographic. \nUsing advanced submersibles capable of filming at all depths of the ocean\, OceanX has documented environments that remain largely unseen. Much of the footage presented in the exhibition has never been shown publicly before. Vast\, intimate\, and precise\, these cinematic scenes form the backbone of the exhibition\, transforming scientific exploration into a powerful visual encounter with the ocean’s beauty and fragility. \nThis landmark exhibition is presented in collaboration with OceanX\, one of the world’s leading ocean exploration organisations. \nFor more information\, head here. \n
