L’Oréal Paris is adding a new product to its True Match range. The True Match Genius 4-in-1 Compact Foundation promises to smooth skin like a primer, even out skin tone and hide imperfections like a concealer and foundation, and set to a velvety matte finish without the need for powder. Does it live up to its claims? The LIV team finds out.
‘I’m not a big fan of foundation. Other than for special occasions, I prefer to stick with a tinted sunscreen. That said, I’d tried the L’Oréal Paris True Match Liquid Foundation on my combination skin before Christmas and was impressed with the finish. So when the latest True Match Genius landed on my desk (in my precise shade) I was instantly intrigued by the four-in-one claim – it sounded perfect for a busy person!
I first put it to the test in a taxi on the way to dinner. The application with the sponge was easy and thorough as the product literally glided on (without dragging the skin) and concealed the darker eye, eliminating the need for a concealer.
The powdery finish was a pleasant surprise, as I’d expected something shiny, but was satisfied with the matte effect. Since the first evening I tried it, True Match Genius has lasted well throughout the day and into the evening in both air-conditioning and humidity.’ – Katie Roberts
‘This four-in-one product (primer, foundation, concealer and powder rolled in one) sounds wonderful for someone who is always rushing in the morning and can’t be bothered to go through the elaborate process of applying make-up every day.
The creamy, lightweight texture means it applies easily without feeling like I’m wearing a lot of make-up. However, the light to medium coverage means I still need to conceal stubborn blemishes left behind by my pimples.
It sets to a natural, slightly luminous finish – not matte or dewy – which is good for my combination skin, but I do wish it was more long- wearing given Singapore’s hot and humid climate. Overall, I think the product is convenient to use, though maybe not on days when your skin is a little less than perfect.’ – Grace Bantaran
