Making light work out of dirty work

23rd October 2021 by Dee Khanduja 4 Min Read

https://expatliving.sg/toshiba-washing-machine-singapore/

You routinely throw dirty clothing into the washing machine with some detergent, and carry on with your day. But once the wash cycle is complete, how do you know your clothes are truly clean? I mean, clothes may ‘look’ clean, but are they?

The problem is, we don’t really know what lurks within our washing machines. The inner drum is an ideal place for mildew, mould and bacteria to breed and multiply. Every time the drum spins, it could be spreading these nasties, lodging them deep in the fabric weave of our clothes and bedding. The result? Contaminated clothes.

Research shows that this lingering bacteria can affect our health; some people can have allergic reactions, others might get hay fever, sneezing, headaches or sinus problems. As an asthma sufferer myself, I’ve had to ensure regular professional cleans for my washing machine to get rid of bacterial build-up, as mould triggers my asthma.

Then there’s the issue of the plain old stains on our clothing. Is your washing machine really doing the best job of cleaning these?

The T20 Dual-Drum was engineered with important details of this kind in mind. The latest and most sophisticated Toshiba washing machine has clever features to make light work out of dirty work. We take a look at eight of them here!

#1 Appearance

The T20 is said to be inspired by our galaxy – which is probably why it looks like a device from a sci-fi movie! This Toshiba washing machine makes a bold statement with its sleek and minimalistic finish, including a fully enclosed door and invisible control device. Let’s face it, most washing machines are an eye-sore, with their sticky-outie knobs and dials; they rarely integrate with our décor and weren’t really made to ‘look good’. The same can’t be said for the T20!

#2 Drums

Looks aside, it’s what’s on the inside that matters. The T20 instantly stands out with its dual-drum partition design. The upper drum handles up to 5kg of clothing that needs specific care; think baby clothes, or underwear with all its lace and trims. The lower drum can handle up to 10kg of larger items like adult clothing, bedding and curtains and comes with 7kg drying capacity. Imagine washing the kids’ clothes and smalls on top while simultaneously washing your bedding on ‘sheet-change’ day! No need for multiple loads through the day.

#3 Energy

Considering the dual-drum design can deal with your family’s washing demands in one go, it’s a feat to think it can manage all this while still using up to 67% less energy! A sweet sustainable bonus.

#4 Personalisation

As much as we love cheering our kids on when they’re playing football in the rain, we know what comes afterwards: a pile of soggy, sweaty, muddy clothes! How does the T20 handle such stubborn stains? I was intrigued to learn that this Toshiba washing machine can ‘personalise’ washing based on a kid’s age. Personalising cycles makes sense when you think about the range of stains found on children’s clothes, from newborns to sweaty teens. The T20 can be set according to age-specific clothing care instructions.

#5 Sound

We’re all too used to the ‘thud thud thud’ emanating from our washing machines, as they plough through spins. The T20 takes care of tumbling, washing and drying with 10% less noise than conventional machines.

#6 Sterilisation

The T20’s AG+ feature keeps clothes 99.9% sterilised for up to 48 hours. Thanks to AI-controlled water circulation, the machine’s water jets penetrate deep into fabrics, eliminating bacteria. The T20 also uses cold extraction silver ions that attach to the surface of fibres and form an ionic membranes; clothes washed in the T20 have an anti-bacterial protection layer as a result, providing protection from contamination during drying.

#7 Detergent

How much detergent should you use? A capful, or two? Or just a half? Turns out the true ‘correct’ amount of detergent depends on what’s being washed, and the quantity. (Makes sense – we wouldn’t use the same amount of salt across all our cooking!) The T20 calculates the appropriate amount of detergent needed to ensure a thorough wash without wastage or residue caused by using too much. Win-Win.

#8 Fabrics

This T20 has a smart-air wash function that can handle 18 different types of fabrics. So you can safely wash soft woolly cardies, chiffons or silks without worrying about shrinkage or damage. Thanks to smart fabric detection technology, the machine knows when to go delicate and light, and when to fluff up our woollies, while doing its job removing odour and stains.

A final word

Most conventional washing machines will develop an odour at some point, as the humid environment is a nursery for bacteria and mould to grow. The T20 has a residue removal drainage system for both its drums, to ensure our clothes are well and truly clean. After all, that’s what we want a washing machine to do!

It’s all about the details with this ingeniously designed washing machine. You can expect to make light work out of dirty work with Toshiba’s T20.
