Kid-friendly things to do in Bangkok

20th December 2017 by Michaela Bisset 2 Min Read

Bangkok is famous for its shopping and food, but it can be enormously fun for little ones too. For a few ideas of things to do with kids in Bangkok, check out these family-friendly places in Thailand’s capital.

#1 Dinosaur Planet Bangkok

Give the kids a glimpse into a time when dinosaurs roamed the earth at this theme park in the central Sukhumvit area. They’ll learn loads about the prehistoric creatures through exhibitions, shows and interactive games and rides, and they can even watch eggs hatch at the Dino Lab or dig up fossils at the Dinosaur Farm. dinosaurplanet.net

#2 Funarium

Looking for some indoor fun on a rainy day? Check out this massive playground in Sukhumvit, where kids can enjoy a wide range of activities in air-conditioned comfort, from playing in ball pits and building sandcastles to trampolining and rollerblading. funarium.co.th

#3 Fantasia Lagoon Water Park

Cool down and enjoy a splashing good time at this waterpark. There are two outlets located on the rooftops of The Mall Bangkae and The Mall Bangkapi. You’ll find them west and east of the city centre respectively. Little ones will love the kiddie pools, while older ones will have a blast on the water slides or lounging on floats on the Lazy River.

#4 Asiatique The Riverfront

Head to this waterfront night bazaar for a tasty dinner and some leisurely shopping after a long day out. It’s situated by the Chao Phraya River, so you can get there by boat from the pier at the Saphan Taksin Skytrain station (kids will love this!). The place exudes a retro vibe, with a mix of stores offering fashion, souvenirs and more, plus restaurants and cafés serving local and international eats. asiatiquethailand.com

Tip: Other markets not to miss in Bangkok are the Chatuchak Weekend Market and the Rod Fai Market (“Train Market”).

#5 Dream World Bangkok

Located on the city’s northern outskirts, in Pathum Thani, this popular amusement park is a great thing to do with kids in Bangkok. Big and little kids alike will love the rollercoasters, bump boats and water rafts. Enjoy the adrenaline rush of the Haunted Mansion! Or get soaked on the Grand Canyon raft ride. dreamworld.co.th

#6 Tooney Toy Museum

Drop by this museum in Nonthaburi and feast your eyes on the eclectic collection of toys, figurines and models. From Gundam figures and Toy Story dolls to Marvel Comics superheroes action figures and retro Coca Cola memorabilia, there’s something for all ages. While you’re there, stop by the café for a drink, or look for a limited-edition toy at the shop. tooneymuseum.com

#7 KidZania Bangkok

Many of you will have heard of this play centre. Children aged 4 to 14 can visit and try out their dream occupation. From fighting fires (in yellow coats and riding in a fire engine!) to reporting the news, kids will learn and have fun at the same time. Find KidZania inside the popular Siam Paragon shopping centre. bangkok.kidzania.com/en-th

#8 Children’s Discovery Museum

Little ones will be engrossed in this interactive space that offers a variety of fun indoor and outdoor activities. Cool down at the water-play area or run about the treehouse playgrounds with their slides, nets and suspension bridges; or stay inside and try out fun costumes and take part in science experiments. The museum is located right near the renowned Chatuchak Weekend Market.
