It’s just not Christmas without sparkling lights, seasonal songs and some ‘friendly’ jostling through excited crowds to finish your last-minute shopping. Here’s where to get into the festive spirit in Singapore.
Gardens by the Bay
Singapore’s biggest yuletide fair returns to Gardens by the Bay from 29 November to 26 December. If previous years are anything to go by, it’s set to be spectacular. Feast your eyes on Italian light sculptures, stroll through a magical forest adorned with festive baubles, watch carollers under the Cassa Armonica gazebo and enjoy carnival rides and games at the fairground. This year’s edition will also have a Christmas Parade, featuring festive characters on floats. Get your tickets now.
The annual Christmas fair at Cluny Court is back for four weekends (22 to 24 November, 29 November to 1 December, 6 to 8 December and 13 to 15 December). Browse a great mix of stalls selling festive goodies, gifts, decorations, party outfits and more. The fair will be open from 10am to 7pm (Friday & Saturday) and 10am to 5pm (Sunday). Donation boxes will be placed at the fair and at Santa’s Grotto (Level 2) and all donations will go to Children’s Cancer Foundation. Drop by Santa’s grotto for a photo op with the kids (22 November to 15 December).
On 1 December, head to Siri House for their Christmas Market. Browse a wide variety of gifts including handmade soaps from Oasis skincare, cold brew coffee and jewellery from The Tiny Torch. This year’s edition places an emphasis on gifting with intention, focusing on items crafted locally and with meaning.
This stunning annual Christmas light-up is not to be missed. It’s one of the longest, grandest festive lighting displays in Singapore, so be sure to set aside some time to admire it on foot, by bus or by car. This year (16 November 2019 to 1 January 2020), it’ll be extending to Grange Road and Orchard Link for the first time. With the theme “The Greatest Gift”, the light-up will comprise a total of 3.9 kilometres of festive lights and decorations.
While you’re there, pop by The Great Christmas Village at *Scape, Grange Road open-air carpark and Shaw House Urban Plaza (23 November to 26 December). Check out rides, game booths, food trucks, musical performances and more.
ION Orchard is also celebrating the festive season with holiday installations, including a fireworks tree and Serpenti necklace light structure by Bulgari. Standing at a towering 18.5 metres tall, both structures can be controlled by an interactive app, allowing passers-by to light them up with colours of their choice.
Get a taste of winter in sunny Singapore at Tanglin Mall’s evening snow shows, from now until 1 January 2020 (Level 1 entrance near Starbucks). Soak in the festive atmosphere with the family and get the kids excited with daily avalanches and ankle-deep snow.
Head to Santa’s Village (Level 2 Atrium) and have a blast at craft workshops, storytelling and sing-along sessions (plus meet-and-greets with Santa!). Want to get some shopping done? Pop by the Christmas Market for a great selection of gifts including organic snacks and handmade accessories. On 14, 15, 21 and 22 December (1.30pm), enjoy your favourite Christmas tunes by carollers at the Level 2 Atrium.
Get into the Christmas mood and sing along with amazing carolling groups (16, 17 and 23 December, 7pm) and enjoy performances by young ones from De Kinder Club (10 December, 7pm) and MindChamps (17 December, 12pm). While there, snag a photo op with Santa Claus (14, 15, 21 and 22 December, 4pm and 5.30pm).
From 22 November to 1 January 2020, there will also be a Christmas toys and gifts fair selling games and gift sets from Kiddy Palace, Pororo Park and Marks & Spencer.
From now until 5 January, take the family to Changi Airport to enjoy Frozen–themed activities. Jewel Changi Airport will be transformed into an enchanting winter wonderland world where guests can walk through “snow” at the Shiseido Forest Valle, enjoy a holiday version of the Rain Vortex light and sound show and check out the festive market (Cloud9 Piazza on Level 5).
At T3 Departure Hall (opposite check-in row 11), navigate Frozen 2’s Enchanted Forest which has four fun zones designed around the elements of nature. Complete the challenges and bring home an exclusive Disney’s Frozen 2 activity pack, luggage tag, keychain, pens, currency pouch or tote bag. On the weekends of 22 to 24 November and 29 November to 1 December, there’ll also be meet-and-greet sessions with Anna, Elsa and Olaf.
