The best family-friendly brunch spots

Looking for a change from a bowl of cereal and the inevitable spilt milk this weekend? Turn around the family breakfast with some early opening venues that will get everyone out of bed and out of the house. If your kids are up before dark, let them follow the habit of Tolkien’s hobbits and have two breakfasts! And why not, with all the good food on offer at these places? Here are some Expat Living suggestions including places with kids’ menus, outdoor areas and quality coffee.


Loysel’s Toy

Where it is: 66 Kampong Bugis, #01-02 TURE

When it opens: 9am

Why we like it: Situated in a quiet park. Delicious house-roasted coffee. Grab a take-away and let the kids run on the grass by the Kallang River.

Paulaner Brauhaus

Where is it: 9 Raffles Boulevard, #01-01 Millenia Walk

When it opens: The Frühschoppen Brunch runs from 11.30am to 2.30pm

Why we like it: There’s a selection of different kids’ activities each week to keep the young ones entertained, from face painting to balloon sculpting.

When it opens: 7am

Why we like it: Relaxed atmosphere by the river, excellent house-roasted coffee, kids can ride scooters and bikes outside and it opens early!

Why we like it: Room for the kids to let off steam after they’ve downed a babycino. Good coffee.

Why we like it: Beautiful leafy location in the Ginger Gardens, lots of room to move, and trees absorb sound, right? Kids’ menu.

When it opens: 8am

Why we like it: Food with a conscience, great coffee and early opener!

Casa Verde

Where it is: Botanic Gardens, Cluny Road Visitors Centre

When it opens: 7.30am

Why we like it: Easy, relaxed and lots of choices. Explore the Botanic Gardens when everyone is full!

Why we like it: The eggs Benedict is fabulous and kids like racing around the outdoor areas.

Where it is: Near Ski360, 1206A East Coast Parkway

When it opens: 9am (Sundays only)

Why we like it: Kids’ menu, and fun watching the novice and experienced boarders attempt the jumps at Ski360.

Café Melba

Where it is: 90 Goodman Road, Goodman Arts Centre, Block N #01-56

When it opens: 8.30am

Why we like it: Top eggs Benedict, a special kids’ menu plus a bouncy castle and a big grassed field for young ones and pets to run in.
