Give strollers a new life

16th September 2022 by Patricea Chow 2 Min Read

Your baby has outgrown the baby stroller – what do you do with it? Local pram cleaning specialist PramWash has a stroller donation initiative that gives preloved strollers in Singapore to needy families. KENNETH TAN of PramWash shares more about this with us.

How did this stroller donation initiative come about?

Five years ago, when PramWash was starting out, there were a few expat customers wanting to gift their used strollers in Singapore. But they couldn’t find a good avenue to do so.

What’s the process of donating a baby stroller in Singapore?

Before we accept a stroller from a donor, a functionality check and safety check is done to ensure that the stroller is fit for redistribution to another family. After receiving the stroller, we will take a few photos and post it on our website.

Each month, we receive several inquiries from both low-income families themselves and welfare organisations including the People’s Association and the Resident’s Committees. When this happens, we share the catalogue of used baby strollers for them to choose from. And, before we send the stroller to the family, we clean it.

What kind of strollers are accepted and what condition is acceptable?

All strollers in Singapore are acceptable, regardless of the brand. However, the stroller must be fully functional and safe. Also, the fabric must not have any tears or tough stains.

How are remaining strollers from the stroller donation handled?

The balance strollers are sold via our website and 100% of the sales proceeds are donated to Singapore Children’s Society.

PramWash team with stroller donation

How many strollers in Singapore have you collected and given away since this started?

Through the stroller donation, we’ve collected more than 250 strollers in Singapore. Of these, we’ve given out over 50 and sold over another 50.

We’re wondering where we can donate strollers for this initiative.

Simply drop your stroller donation off at our VivoCity or Tradehub 21 store. Or call us at 8686 8001 to pick it up from your home (an $8 logistics fee applies).
